Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

Regarding router cutters, I went through a bunch of trend cutters that kept breaking. I was using then with the CNC, taking off 0.5mm cuts and they still failed. Got fully refunded for them as they were defective. Silverline ones from tool station are good for a while. I use either CMT cutters or on...

Amplifier Bits and Bobs

Having had this box of bits collecting dust for years, I have concluded I won’t be building any more valve amps in the future so it’s time to free up some space and money. I was going to build a 4PL1 PSE amp and bought most of the bits for it, but that’s as far as it got. The transformers and valve ...

Re: Something Stirs in the Workshop

Just started making a test horn ( 1.4”) for open baffle speaker project.. for someone. The rear section, quite fiddly as have to do it in multiple sections, to get a flange to mount the horn too. Will finish the mouth when I get back after a weeks break. 011DD223-712E-458F-9E7B-FBF2A0FB78E6.jpeg D88...

Re: 6550 SE Amplifier

Benefits are broken and so is the NHS. Instead of looking at whats broken, point your gaze at the ones that broke it. I agree that the current regime is to blame for most of this… however. I read somewhere that the whole welfare/ heath system was originally costed on people living 3 years after ret...

Re: TG "The Loudspeaker" Build (Sort of)

Having been involved with a pair of Troels DQWT in the past, I wasn’t impressed by that design. On the topic of small horns, I am currently doing some horns for a 1.4” driver for an open baffle design, similar to the Perry Marshall OB speakers, but looking at using a newer horn design that has a wei...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Wonder if they do a check of the system when they change the meter, it used to be the case ( back in the 80’s) when I worked for BG transmission, the last person who touches it is liable - Paul will put us right :D

Re: Nothing In Particular

The incoming meter and Bluetooth transmitter, not the “smart meter”. The gas used to turn the dial via a paddle that measured flow, so some would say a retrograde step…

Re: Nothing In Particular

Heard an amusing story, Work colleague had no heating, waited 2 days for plumber. “Nothing wrong with your boiler mate - it’s the meter” was the diagnosis. That was changed in 2 hrs, from making the call. It turns out that “smart” gas meters are fitted with a battery, that has a life of 10 years at ...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Just had the weirdest day. I kept some bits back from my old car which was written off, when it went for salvage. Been selling them off. Today someone turned up to collect some bits, in my old car Ffs. He’s a dealer who bought the car from the salvage company, he said it required half a days worth o...

Re: Zero emission road vehicles.

It makes me feel warmer if I think it’s 273 degrees outside. From my time with GM in London, Ontario, my first day was a trial by fire, got a skyliner as a hire car, horrible American thing, was confused why there was a yard brush in the boot, until next morning the 2ft of snow on the car - answered...

By chance listened to a 2cellosbalbum yesterday….. quite interesting how their rendition of “thunderstruck”, seemed more appropriate for cello, than Angus Young on Guitar. However when it got to “ whole lotta of loving” it didn’t work at all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2Cellos
