Re: General health matters.

I managed a gentle walk this afternoon, only about a mile and a half and it took a lot out of me, but a step in the right direction.

Re: General health matters.

It's been an interesting couple of weeks! After my last chemotherapy on Feb 21st things were pretty good for a few days but then I went down with what i thought was another streaming cold and last weekend was very tough, then, on Monday, I had a very high temperature and, after referring to the ...

Re: Nothing In Particular

I've been offline since Tuesday afternoon after our Fibre to the House failed - it felt like living in the 1980s, ended up watching DVDs...

All fixed now so back to modern living.

Re: Another Concrete Loudspeaker Project

I may have some from both previous speaker builds. If I have, it will be 30mm thick. What sort of size do you need?

Thanks for the very kind offer. I'll need pieces of ply around 100cm x 30cm for the additional baffle layers, however, 30mm will be to thick as fairing it into the concrete would ...

Re: Another Concrete Loudspeaker Project

Looking around for some ideas/inspiration, these caught my eye. The bass unit would still work well in my 40litre enclosures and there wouldn't be too much work to accommodate the drivers. Cost will have jumped a level though, so maybe look at alternative ribbon tweeters.

Re: Another Concrete Loudspeaker Project

Cool project! Sounds like a plan. 8)

It really depends on what tooling you have available and the amount of grief you are prepared to endure.

The epoxy is the right idea for bonding, but whatever you do, having a keyed surface is essential - course and rough preferably.

Multiple materials ...

Re: Another Concrete Loudspeaker Project

Seems a shame to lose that “brick wall” mechanical isolation between the drive unit basket and the concrete enclosure, having a new plywood baffle vibrating, (even if damped by the concrete). Unless you bond it well to the front face of the enclosure and over its entirety on the back, it might ...

Out of interest, I also tried the newer Jordan Eikona parameters.

Re: Another Concrete Loudspeaker Project

I've been mulling over how to populate these and at the moment I'm undecided between going two-way or persisting with a single full-range approach.

I think the former may be the better compromise, but on the latter, I checked out using a pair of Jordan JX92S units that I have available and they ...

The Tang Band W8-1772 looks a better option

I checked it out because I remembered Bruce Rozenblit used Tang Bands in some of his DIY speaker designs.
