Re: Is this a Valve of some kind?

Was so focused on the valve, missed the dalek. Easy target.

Re: uController for Amp

I'm not a valve roller mostly. Sure there's differences but there's more to be had in topology IMHO. My aim with this was to try and avoid a costly failure and also to give me an idea as to when to try a spare set to see if the working set were past their best before date. My use is virtually the sa...

Re: uController for Amp

I like the ideas that get suggested on these threads even when they get a bit more extreme. Might not be needed this time but for another project who knows. I suppose my loss of power thoughts were based on our last house which had an overly sensitive RCD and was a bit trippy. That combined with the...

I have just read this before I go to bed a bit drunk and it's given me a good giggle.

Re: uController for Amp

So far this is going well in The Matrix. Was wondering if it's feasible to hold up the Arduino long enough with a supercapacitor to write the hourmeter to EEPROM in case of a random turn off. Normally it would be a managed turn off which would trigger the turnoff function but in case of power failur...

Re: uController for Amp

As I haven't got any hardware yet, thought I'd look into simulation and found TinkerCad. It's very basic but has got me started doing some basic stuff. Got the cathode current display bit going which wasn't too taxing. Assembled some sig gens to generate a "music" signal sort of thing to s...

Re: Millard working week

Standout for me has been when women in Switzerland got the vote. 1971! Numbers and statisitcs are the weapons abused in political spaces. Vacancies very high. Government claims super low unemployment yet to be employed, requires only 1 hour of work in the week and that doesn't necessarily require pa...

Re: uController for Amp

Thanks and I appreciate the offer. If I was still down the road in Kent, I'd be up for it but in NZ now and I looked up the postage; not far off a new book price here

Re: uController for Amp

After your last post, got all excited about registers, timers (Arduino has 3) and clocks and stuff as could glean a way ahead. Did a whole bunch of reading and then found that Arduino has a function millis() which returns milliseconds board has been up and running and uses timer0. Reckon that largel...

Re: uController for Amp

You've highlighted the two things I've been spending my time on. Just how much conditioning do I need so been trying out ideas in ltspice. Hadn't fully considered all fault conditions yet. If timers can just go about their business while the uC is monitoring then great. This is where my ignorance of...

Re: uController for Amp

Thanks for the tips. Not having coded anything for quite a while, I'll have to have a think about what you both are saying to let the logic of it sink in. The most important aspect is monitoring the presence of bias supply there or not with maybe an over current monitor as well. So far I'm trying to...

Re: uController for Amp

Thanks Nick. That makes things easy to use EEPROM. Hadn't planned to do writes in a brownout situation just the thing to do before turn off or at that life, just update once an hour anyway as the way I use the amps, the EEPROM will outlast me. The RTC module might just make things super easy if code...

Re: uController for Amp

In looking at the hour meter function for valve life, I've seen a bunch of different options. Some have involved nothing more than counting some stuff and bunging a value in EEPROM. However continual writing to a single space might wear it out as I understand they have a life. Was thinking store acc...

My diyery is fully virtual at the moment so enjoying your thread. Impressive specs.

You must be a perfectionist to get another pcb made coz something a bit tight. Impressive. Turnaround must be quick?
