Re: Nothing In Particular
You’re right. They never did an automatic version of the 2015-2020 H-RV. The current model however is a hybrid where the ic engine is only connected directly to the wheels at higher speeds. The rest of the time drive is provided by the electric motor and there is no gearbox as such. I drove a Jazz ...

Re: Nothing In Particular
Lord knows what I'd replace it with when the time comes.
Same story with my Civic. Bought it on 45k in 2018, last year it turned over 100k and the local garage reported the timing chain was getting a bit rattle. Not necessarily a cause for concern but when added to a couple of spurious engine ...

Re: Technics SL1800 MK 2
I rather like North Hill Audio. He’s doing a cheap and cheerful 3D printed turntable that’s a wonderful bit of lateral thinking. Doesn’t have to be bright green!

Re: Landrovers...
Shouldn’t be too much of a problem for post-series Landys using the LT77 ‘box, as that was originally designed for the V8 in the Rover SD1. Earlier Landys used a box derived from the one in the P2 Rovers which originated in the 1930s, and probably wouldn’t take kindly to a V6!

Re: General health matters.
Is anybody on AT actually healthy?
Well, at 73 I’m in pretty good nick apart from mild asthma that I’ve had all my life. My annual health check last year showed high cholesterol, so I gave up sugar (hard with tea, but surprisingly no problem with coffee. Porridge a bit bland as well), although ...

Just reinstated our BirdNET-Pi installation. The original developer stopped maintaining it a few years ago - someone has forked the github repository and fixed a bazillion things, so I've reinstated our setup...

Re: Nothing In Particular
I was looking at a TT2 on eBay the other day which was apparently “designed for acoustic solutions” and “engineered for connectivity”.
Have to say that I don’t remember having either of those aims in mind at the time, although I guess if I hadn’t engineered it for connectivity it wouldn’t have ...

Re: Capacitor ESR unexpected result
Torr seems to be quite commonplace in vacuum technology. I forget what I was reading that came up with Angstroms, but it certainly shook me - I had to go and look it up to convert into sensible units. Still, it could be worse, we could still be using slugs (used for weighing bullets) and jars ...

Re: Capacitor ESR unexpected result
When I was working at Plessey Semiconductors in the ‘90s we measured the vacuum in furnace tubes in microTorrs. They were American furnaces though.

Re: Marianne Faithfull dies at 78
Everyone does, despite it being a vile calumny. Shame really, she deserves to be remembered for so much more than that.
