German artist Simon Weckert tricked Google Maps into thinking there was a massive traffic jam by pulling around a cart with 99 smart phones in it...

So, anyone using Google Maps as their GPS route planning system was routed away from the area he was in... Result? Empty roads in the centre of town :D

That is cool.

But when I saw cart or handcart I was thinking of something the milkman used to use, or a railway porter :D

50km/h winds and heavy rain forecast on Saturday afternoon onwards...

The ground here is already saturated (we had a big rainstorm last night and heavy showers today)...

The rivers are up to the tops of their banks and there's already a fair chunk of standing water on the roads.

Went down to Hastings this morning - huge heavy seas on the beach and generally grim conditions, so no walk there for the dog... Lots of council workers out in the various dips and hollows of the road on the way back (A21) - all clearing drains...

I went and hid in a very nice cafe in the old part of town... Hanushka is just lovely, (well-behaved) dog friendly (they give you some doggy biscuits if you have a beast with you) and all-round an excellent place to spend an hour hiding from the weather with the hound... Been there several times and it's always good. Highly recommended...

Good café yes - we don't have things like that up here !
Looks like I'm in the amber rain warning area too, now. Tomorrow and Sunday.
St. Asaph is likely to take a hit - but a good test of the new flood defences. I have a retired colleague who lives in the most vulnerable bit of St.Asaph, he was evacuated in 2012 - hopefully he will not be in the same situation.

Bought this in 1969. Been clearing out the loft and there it was: the first semiconductor book I ever bought... Heaven only knows why, 51 years later, there it is... One pound and 5 shillings... Still got its Fablon (remember that?) cover...

Some devices in there are still common... MJE370,MJE520, 2N3702, 2N3819...

Cool !

Bad rain here. Went to St. Asaph earlier to catch up with a friend at the pub, the back road from Denbigh was flooding, even worse on the Trefnant-St.Asaph B-road where it was down to 1 lane in places and they were doing emergency pumping onto the fields. I used the A-road to come back. Just looked out now before bed and it's lashing down and windy.

The Environment Agency's flood alert page at https://flood-warning-information.servi ... k/warnings is interesting - does not include Scotland or Wales [which is always underwater anyway]:
615 floods in progress or expected imminently

It certainly has this weekend.

Here's a small shot from this afternoon. This is taken from the Denbigh-Llandyrnog road, which was almost underwater. This is normally all green fields. It's the most water I've seen along here, in the 33 years I've lived here. There were waves lapping up against the grass verge on the other side, like you were at the seaside. The water was pouring through culverts under the road here, I felt a bit vulnerable.

Plenty flooding up this way too, but also some cold temps-

Mind you, that’s nothing unusual for a Braemar winter.

Was up at my mum’s for the weekend, bit of a dodgy drive over the top, snow gates were closed about an hour later.
