Actually I should have clarified, the track is off in the distance, I was standing on the road where I'd parked. I didn't want to take the camera any further given the conditions. The track would be sort-of rideable on 32mm tyres in the summer, but today I had to get a bucket and sponge out to clean my boots off before hanging them up to dry on the porch.

This is the area, you can see the bridle-path/old road traversing above Llangwyfan -

Sun came out yesterday .. until I went out for a walk. Big black clouds came over, drizzle started. Ploughed on as usual, Moel Arthur car park, south along the ridge for a bit then back.
I hour 37, pulse 131 average.
Pictures bring over some of the story, but not the squidgy track and detours to avoid mud and water.

Good looking terrain Mark, but probably a nicer walk when its not waterlogged.

I've just got back from a ride; there's extensive flooding out on the levels so I headed uphill omto the Quantocks to avoid the worst of the wet stuff but still found several places with standing water across the road, fortunately not to deep to get through though. 22miles today and 30 yesterday but the Christmas treats are winning the calorie race at the moment!

With perfect timing, whilst getting up from a kitchen chair to answer the 'phone (that most tricky and stressful of activities), my lower back went into spasm ⛈️😱🚴🤔😟

Many drugs plus cold & hot compresses later, I can move again. A bit. At least I'm no longer flat on the floor...

Having had many similar experiences in the past I can empathise with you.

I tend to think this is low minerals - calcium or magnesium. Are you still on that dairy-free diet, Nick ?

Just been out for another walk on the hills. I took the camera and there was some sunshine, at first, but I had left the SD card by the computer after downloading the two pics yesterday - D'Oh !
I felt a bit jaded but managed 1hour 18 mins .
Yes Ray, the paths on the ridge here are really good, they're actually quite well-drained, but it's been such a relentless onslaught of water this autumn, they are very wet. However from March onwards they dry out and the walking is very good. It's always a work-out, though, the ridge is constantly up and down in either direction.

To use an appositive phase:Fat chance!

Nah. That was only for 3 months. I couldn't stand dairy-free milk and the lack of certain minerals, especially calcium, meant that I was using calcium-enriched oat milk plus taking vitamin D supplements etc. All madness.

Moderation (for some things at least) is the answer, not abstinence.

Bit better now - trick is to keep moving, not to just lie down (however tempting that may be).

Back on the bike. I'm lardy 👍😀

Only about 60km and 1,500ft of climbing, but quite gentle...

Good ride Nick.

Headed up onto the Quantock Hills again this morning - trying to get my December Climbing Trophy on Strava - just 22miles but nearly 2000ft of elevation gain. I got thoroughly sodden though - had to ride three stretches of around 20yards through standing water about a foot deep in dips in the road - I'll take a different route tomorrow!

Another 26miles and 2000ft of climbing this morning - takes my total elevation gain for the week to more than 10,000ft (3050metres) and distance to 157miles (253Km) - and I stayed mostly dry!

I've got to do around 600ft uphill tomorrow to meet my Strava climbing challenge.
