Both their albums are frequent plays round here. Great stuff! They were my highlight at Glastonbury few years ago.
I'm slow out on the uptake so a recent discovery for me but playing it a lot at the moment and I picked up a copy of their first album for a quid so looking forward to hearing that when it arrives.
What Are You Listening To Right This Minute? Genesis! No really, Bwahahahahahaha!
After 54 years I've finally found a PG era-Genesis song I like , just the one song mind. Its called 'In the Beginning'. We're decorating the Hall at the moment so we've got all Squeezebox radios synced and all those dodgy old compilations albums playing (you know, the type that never get played at any other time except when you're decorating...). This one's called 'The Prog Album'. Pfffttttt. What will the neighbours think?!
JTS is a big fan of 'em so its not as though I haven't been inflicted with any of their stuff in the past, their music just doesn't do anything for me TBH Ed. Except that one track, thats really good.
This is the track listing on that 'prog' compilation. Gong and CB are on it, how very dare they!
1. Theme One - Van Der Graaf Generator
2. Wonderous Stories - Yes
3. In the Beginning - Genesis
4. Hold Your Head Up - Argent
5. America - The Nice
6. Back Street Luv - Curved Air
7. Shine On Brightly - Procol Harum
8. In My Own Time - Family
9. Hocus Pocus - Focus
10. Northern Lights - Renaissance
11. Fresh Garbage - The Spirit
12. Observatory Crest - Captain Beefheart
13. Catherine of Aragon - Rick Wakeman
14. The Devil's Answer - Atomic Rooster
15. Fohat Digs Holes In Space - Gong
16. Mockingbird - Barclay James Harvest
A mint condition charity shop vinyl find in its original gatefold sleeve.
I’m drowning in nostalgia. Reminds me of peach halves in syrup and Carnation milk on a Sunday tea time.
Karen’s voice is still spine tingling.
Sgt. Baker started talkin’ with a Bullhorn in his hand.
