The Audio-Talk Motorcycling thread.

Well if its a twin, so I assume one bang per revolution, so thats 4000/60 or 65Hz, wavelength of 65Hz is 5m, so quarter wavelength 1.5m. Maybe.
Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.

That's close enough for the full 10 points.

I just was happy having an excuse to post a bonzo link.

I'm glad you're happy. Think of the 10 points as a bonus or summat.

I suppose that springs wound in this way might have an appeal to notions of aesthetic symmetry but there is no technical reason for having them handed. In the last few days, I have led one VSCC ride-out and attended another old bike get-together. Surreptitiously, in the hope of avoiding the attention of curious types wearing white lab coats, I have made a study of saddle and other coil springs to determine that 100% of a sample of 23 exhibited paired springs wound unidirectionally.
From this statistical irrelevance, one can make what one will. I'm going to pour another Doom Bar. Boing boing

You're as sad as I was for mentioning it!Baggy Trousers wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 1:12 amI suppose that springs wound in this way might have an appeal to notions of aesthetic symmetry but there is no technical reason for having them handed. I didn't think for a moment that it would matter technically but to me the asymmetry grates and represents a missed opportunity...
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

So I read that here. Remembered it from somewhere. Because, doing this was making me think about it. I've just been putting a Lycette repro saddle onto the Ural, dunno yet what it's like to use, only finally finished putting it on yesterday (had to wait for "special bolt" in the post) and weather is hacking down stair rods today.

Now it's stopped raining first time out today to try the new seat – so made a video. Went to find some really bumpy roads.
