#1 My Next Big Ride

Post by Ray P »

Greetings chaps.

Each year the staff at my place of adopt a charity for the year and this year we're fundraising for MIND, the mental health charity. One in Four of us will suffer with mental health problems at some point in our lives and MIND provides support through those difficult times to many thousands of people each year.

On Monday July 8th I'll be riding a 118mile 'Tour of Somerset' to raise funds for MIND. I know I cycle a lot but this will be tough; It's a challenging route, especially the first half, which has over 5000ft of climbing:

Tour of Somerset

I'll be grateful for all and any support I receive and if you're able to make a donation to help me on my way you can do so here:

Cheers

Done!
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

Done mine Ray, it's in a good cause. :D

Thanks Phil.

Yes, getting involved has opened my eyes to how much this is good work needed, especially with the young where offering support early can transform life prospects. Young people suicide stats are scary but, apparently, not very newsworthy.

So, only two days to go now before the 118mile charity ride so a quiet weekend with nothing too strenuous; did an easy 17mile jaunt around some local lanes at 06:30 this morning and probably just 5-10miles tomorrow to stay relaxed. By this time on Monday I should have 30miles in my legs and my first coffee and cake in my tummy.

Just need to give the bike a check, lube and clean and I'll be ready for my 07:00 departure on Monday.

A big thank you to everyone here who has sponsored me. Last evening we passed £5000 raised for the ride so a good injection of much needed funds for MIND.

Cheers

Ray

Oooh, trust me, I plan to enjoy it - it's not often you get to eat lots of cake guilt free!

But apart from that, the route does take in some beautiful bits of this part of the world and I plan to partake of the views.

Thanks for the good wishes.
