I think I'd listen to Mahavishnu more often if it wasn't for the violin.

Went to see Blazin Fiddles last evening at South Petherton's Dave Hall; talk about high-energy musicianship! Each member of the band is a fine player in their own right but together they're awesome,good fun too.

Following a recommendation on John Broskie's most recent TCJ blog I've been enjoying listening to Musica Nuda having obtained a copy of their CD 'Quam Dilecta'. Here are a couple of samples of their music;

Not exactly a track, but a really interesting piece about the score for the film, "Dunkirk"...

Ah - handy link into something I was going to mention Dave - I was watching Jack Bruce talking on the Royal Albert Hall Cream Farewell film ( 68 ? ). On the subject of his early classical training, he said JS Bach was the 'daddy ' as regard bass lines - & all bass players should include him in their listening. What's your opinion on this issue ?

Good link Mark.
Well, in 1968 I'm sure Jack was right in his mindset and speaking from his own experience about JSB influencing JB (Jack Bruce).
Fast forward to 1984 and me learning bass parts note for note, nuance 4 nuance, in all honesty Jack Bruce was/is more of an influence on me personally than JS Bach. I sat for hours and hours trying to work out EXACTLY what JB (Jack Bruce) was doing to make his bass (guitar) sound so growly and grumpy on that version of 'Crossroads' from the RAH gig. Its a different game in sound manipulation. I reckon JSB would sit there and listen to that performance of 'Crossroads' and say 'awethumne' as a bass register appreciator in 1968.
FWIW, I've read Jaco P rated JS Bach too.
I'm still learning. S'good
