Who knows what the recording quality would have been on those ?
Most of his LP's are still not expensive - the exception is 'Truth' .

I have nearly always been pleasantly surprised by the more than reasonable quality of the sound of uTube stuff. I'm more interested in seeing how and what Mr Beck is doing rather than total fidelity. I spect I'll fork out eventually but this is a great start.
So far I've seen that he has the volume on the guitar well down so he controls the sustain brilliantly. It looks like he goes for super slinky type strings that one can bend right off the fretboard effortlessly. And he finger picks- not like a classical git, nor Mark Knoppfler either. His style is reliable (of course) but very non-standard. Now I'm learning something similar but am pretty rubbish about it. Practising on an acoustic guitar helps a lot because it strengthens the fingers. His control of the whammy bar is unique, brilliant, and essential to his expression.
Very exciting.

We went to a Jazz evening at the village church on Saturday evening. More Acker Bilk than Miles Davis. ).
During the first interval the name Edmundo Ros came up in conversation, so now I'm on You tube looking at his music.
NICE.
PS Just ordered a 2 CD set of his 50 best tunes on Ebay. £4.98 inc post.

Just returned from Glastonbury for The Fruits De Mer ten year anniversary bash on Saturday.
Fantastic day of live music finishing with Tir Na Nog who were brilliant.
Anyone into psychedelic, prog, krautrock would be very interested in this label.
Lots of vinyl releases and amazing packages.
Worth checking out.

The man is an awesome player, with great tone and technique, and he doesn't feel the need to show off at every opportunity.
