Third layout is the best out of the three I set up over the past week:

This is the one I'm going for. Very similar to the first scratch build amp I did - The Bluebell Loftin White.

Much drilling, cutting, filing and bleeding later (© Mr I) and we have a punched out chassis.
Primer and colour goes on tomorrow, all being well.

Wasn't satisfied with the chassis colour; far too "me too" for my liking.

So....as this is probably the last stand alone valve amp I'm likely to build, as once retired in January, I'll be on a bit of a strict budget, I thought I might as well let all my creativity out, just this once and go for it.

So as all the valves in this are American (2A3, 6005W, 6AU6) I'm going American Miami Art Deco with the amplifier.

Chassis will be rose gold, pink metallic, with dark wooden end cheeks.

Two mahogany D section mouldings, running the whole length of the front panel will be placed so that there is a one eighth inch gap between them.

The bias on the input valves is provided by white LEDs, which will shine through two narrow slots placed in the gap, from behind a frosted piece of white glass, glued inside the front of the chassis. As the bias comes up, the white lights will grow slowly in intensity.

Don’t care what it sounds like, just want to see it!
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

Got the pink metallic chassis done this afternoon and it looks the absolute dog's danglies. Totally the right choice of colour for an art deco style object.

GAWGEOUS dahling!

Tried a sample ebony stain on a piece of scrap mahogany next to the pink chassis; looks superb. Glad I went for this style.
