It will rather spoil and devalue the occasion if firey does his avoiding jobby again. That was the motivation in my mind.

Let's assume the best and see where that takes us.

This coming weekend is the Cranage show which I will be exhibiting at.

The week after I am suggesting we hold the phono battle which is Sunday 2nd July

Please advise if you can make that date so I can make preparations.

Thanks
I'm at a party the day before so I won't be doing an early start, but can be there 11.00 until 3.00 ?

I can also bring my EAR Phono and my audiophile products silver wired sut (kondo made ? )
The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

Not sure if I can make it yet, but would a World Designs Phono 3s be of any interest in the comparisons ?

Can we agree my format I posted earlier in the thread.

"As I initiated the idea I would like to put my input. Too complicated to get both MM and MC, and we must get a wide range of product. I believe for a test of excellence it needs to be a low output MC test. That creates the choices of valve stages with SS or SUT step up, supplied as a unit option. Any valve or nuvista stages that a member feels happy with a MC on their own. And solid state stages.

Format, start with the two cheapest offerings and drop the loser, working up through the price range, dropping the loser at each stage (but always remembering quality v price in our end reports). I see two results voted for 1/ best overall stage 2/ best value for money stage, maybe a third for best budget. We should try and get as many items as possible in the test as this saga has created much conflict over the years. SUT v SS, valve v SS, so it would be nice to get something pretty much definitive. For DIY stages a honest estimate of the cost to the maker also accounting for time involved would be useful to know where to slot it in."

Thats ok by me, but we will also need to chose some way of picking the "winner" and how we resolve disagreement is the case of close calls.

If there is no consensus then we have majority and minority reports, if it is close we declare a draw. It is common rules in all comparative / report work from Gov downward.

There will of course be the people who are scared to lose who will do their best to feck up the process, but hopefully they will be on the outside trying to piss in, not on the inside trying to wreck the process - we will see. I have seen so many of these, I know all the games off by heart.

Down to Dave I would have said, cant see why not.

And Phil, yes, a phono3 would be relevant.

We rather need fireybum and arkwright. They will both try to get out of it. If firey makes the excuse "because I am there" I will withdraw and just send stuff to be listened to.

Seems like no reason to not attend. As I say, lets assume the best first and see where that takes us.
