Heard this on the car radio and had to pull over to listen to it properly.
Haven't heard it for at least 35 years. A great upbeat piece of three-minute POP perfection that transports me back to a time and a place right at the cusp of the 70s/80s. Happy times, with fellow second generation mods, modettes (including the missus) and two tone pals.
It is interesting that all of us who were part of our little gang of guys and gals are all still happily married 30 odd years down the line, with kids and grandkids galore.
We loved stuff like The Lambrettas, The Merton Parkas, Secret Affair, all the Two-Tone groups and of course Madness.

Yeah but no but... a one hit wonder is like Andy warhols 15 mins of fame (Jeremy kyle show for example). Arguably its better than nothing at all which is all that's left in this cold indifferent universe...

What's it all about then, eh!

Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

While I'm at it, here's another piece of classic silliness from Lene Lovich.
I found her fascinating (don't tell the missus)

And another classic piece of bubblegum pop from 1968.
At 11 years old, this was the biz, played on my mate Keith's mum's Dansette.
Kasenatz-Katz Singing Orchestral Circus - Quick Joey Small (Went Over The Wall)
He also had "Little Arrows" by Leapy Lee.....Least said about that one the better, methinks.

That lead singer looks unnervingly like Richard Hammond.Cressy Snr wrote:The Look "I Am The Beat"
A lot of bands that were one-hit wonders in the US had more than one hit in the UK, of course -- The Vapors being one of the best IMHO. But I've been trying to remember the name of this one-hit wonder band for decades, and finally it came to me today. Guitarists take note: rare appearance of a Gibson "Map" guitar, played by a woman no less. That thing looks like it weighed a TON, too.
I guess I'm continuing my streak of being the most flamingly American person on this board, but I've started calling things "pants" and about half the time I say "toMAHto," so surely in another couple of decades I'll have fully assimilated.

I went to school with the lead singer. No idea what they're up to now.cressy wrote:One that springs to mind for me is significantly younger, mansun - I can only disappoint you
