I started building a ultrasonic record cleaning machine... about 2 years ago, but them never finished it. Well with being house bound for the foreseeable due to this pesky virus. I got on with it this morning. Not everything went to plan - one of the reasons I shelved it.
Design requirements:- I wanted the cleaner such that I could cover it up when not in use- to preserve the fluid. I also wanted it such that I could dry the records after cleaning.
So the idea was to have a frame that sits on top of the Ultrasonic cleaner, that can be lifted off with a couple of arms that lower the records into the tank.
Where I made the original mistake was - cost reducing. I used an ikea black plastic chopping board for the main frame and arms. Perspex would have cost me.. lots more, however it wouldn’t warp like the chopping did, stress relieving itself as I machined, not a lot a couple of mm but, enough to upset me and it doesn’t machine nicely either.
The label protector/spacers have magnets so they clamp tightly to the records - by magnetic attraction.
Outstanding work -
The spindle attachment needs more thought, just screws in currently - might machine a magnetic coupling.
I need to attach a fan to force dry the records after cleaning.
Need to make another puck/ label protector, so I can clean 3 record at once.
It does clean the records nicely- using L art du Son, as the additive/wetting agent

Nice job, well done!
A few more details would be good please:
What speed do you spin the records at?
What's the composition of your fluid exactly? Purified or distilled water? Any IPA? How much L'art du Son?
Do you use the heater? What temperature?
How exactly are you planning to dry the records?
Thanks

What speed do you spin the records at? 0.6 rpm
What's the composition of your fluid exactly? Purified or distilled water? Any IPA? How much L'art du Son? - what was left in the bottle into 5 ltrs of distilled water
Do you use the heater? What temperature? 50 degs
How exactly are you planning to dry the records? Spin them in air- with forced air flow.
Thanks
