#1 Back to Blighty!

Post by jack »

Well, I'm returning to Albion, the land of Les Rostbifs, the home of Der Inselaffe, the domicile of the Brittunculi...

I've resigned (job done) and though we love the region, I'll leave the company at Christmas...

Onward and upwards! Time in the workshop :) *

* Though we'll be back in Q1/19 for more travelling...

Retiring or moving on?
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

Not decided yet - I don't get the concept of "retirement".

There's a couple of cute roles out there which might tempt, plus I have a whole bunch of business ideas and SWMBO & I want to build another eco-house... also considering working abroad doing VSO or similar. Lots of possibilities.

I had a feeling that pipe and slippers probably weren’t on the agenda!

I don't mind retiring on Jack/Nicks behalf if it helps. I'll pm my rates.

Well I hope you enjoy your return Nick - all the things you've been missing - like slugs, drizzle and Brexit news. On the other hand it actually sounds like you're just having a Christmas holiday in the UK !

The thing is that to keep the cost of flights down (Emirates are expensive), everyone books long loops so the return half is months away. e.g. I booked a flight from the UK (LGW->DXB) in April but the return half is December 20th - doing this means the return bit, being booked months ahead, is much cheaper.

Consequently, I've a LGW->DXB flight still for beginning Jan and at DXB->LGW flight for April (which I can move) - the originating halves of these flights were months ago. So at least one more trip out here already paid for :)
