Yes I have a Renault and it's quite common on them that the cambelt kit includes some other bits that also need to be replaced. For example on mine the water pump is part of the kit and it is not designed to last longer than the belt.

When I worked at a Citroen garage it was not uncommon to find weeping water pumps when doing a timing belt change. Needless to say we recommended customers to have it (the water pump) replaced whilst it was easy to get at.
We only ever fitted timing belt kits complete with tensioners.

Quite so, the bearings (and seals in the case of the water pump) are pretty much clapped out when the belt is. If someone reuses an old tensioner, not unknown for it to develop a lean because the bearing has packed up, then the belt slides off...

Its a Ural/Zippo motorcycle accessory, a flip-top fag lighter disguised as a pannier.

@ Phil: yeah pretty much. Anything like that.
@ Dave: nice, but no cigar.
It's for storing all my itty bitty odds and s0ds, there's a carrier bag full of the stuff.
It's commonly called an "ammo box" and this is where I want to fit it (where it normally would go)

I'm getting the barrel on the 1960 RE Bullet rebored. I always wondered how it was done.
