#1 BT phone junction box.
Where the BT line is connected to my bungalow it is an externally mounted box approx 2.5" square.
The plastic cover for this box has deteriorated and fallen off.
Does anyone know what this box is called ?
There is no part number on the lid, just the BT logo.

If it is grey, it is likely to be a Block Terminal No 66A or B, but without a pic I'm only guessing.

Aye, that's a Block Terminal 66A.
I fitted hundreds of those back in the day.

@ Phil I'm guessing yours has been rotted by sunlight?

The picture Mike put up must be a 66B.
My lid is only pushed on with no securing screw, and it is flat and grey, so maybe a 66A
I knew Steve would know.
It's in the hands of Openreach now.

Actually chaps, it's most probably a BT16A. Still available on Ebay.

There is a web site for old BT boxes.

Why does that not surprise me!
And I wasn't joking about sunlight disintegrating plastic I've seen lots of examples of that over the years from plastic bags to buckets

When I got home tea time I noticed that Openreach had fitted a new box for me, a shiny black one.
Pretty good service.
