Mind your own fecking business Noddy, You are just a rude shite who is (as always) looking for angles to diss nva and me.
If a customer asked me he would be answered, you will never be that person.

I'll take that as a NO then.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2017 3:37 pmMind your own fecking business Noddy, You are just a rude shite who is (as always) looking for angles to diss nva and me.
Cheers Nick,Nick wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2017 3:02 pm EU General Product Safety and RoHS Directive would be the first two. I dont know if LVD applies as the voltage will be less than 50v AC for your speakers. I would guess that under EMC you would need to check BS EN 55020 and EN 55013, then possibly EN 50332 and certainly EN 60065
Scope of EN 50332
EN 50332 applies only to battery-operated portable consumer audio entertainment equipment with mono or stereo headphones or earphones, intended for presenting broadcast or recorded sound or video, for example CD players, MP3 players, MP3 players in mobile phones, or PDAs and tablets. This standard does not cover mains-operated Hi-Fi or audio equipment, nor does it cover headphones used to aid the hard of hearing. It also does not cover headphones or headsets used at work, e.g. headsets used with two-way radios or headsets in call centres, control rooms, or broadcasting. Headphones used at work are covered separately by the requirements of the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. As well as testing to EN 50332, ISVR Consulting is able to measure sound levels and noise exposures from headsets and earpieces to assess compliance with the workplace regulations.

Am I missing something?
I agree completely Nick. The problem is, there are no 25 year-old me's coming up, and I don't know how much else I could come up with. Equally however, I suspect that if had come up with these speakers 35 years ago, then as the Doc says, I would have been buried by the Cartel. I wouldn't have lasted five minutes once they had gotten wind of what I was up to.Nick wrote: ↑Fri Feb 24, 2017 1:50 pm Take Steve as a example, how many years of work has it taken him to get to his new speaker? How many more of those will he have in him (you know what I mean Steve). For the "industry" (to continue the questionable use of quotes) to progress, it needs 25 year old Steve’s, I dont see many of those, just a lot of us old git's. I just have doubts about the typical millennial work life balance and if it would lead to months in a shed coming up with a new thing when you can put some stones in a bag and market them to the gullible.

Now that the Cartel has to a great degree, because of the internet, been neutralised, there could be a chance of succeeding, albeit is a very small way, but that's OK. I have no goals other than to enjoy building things that people might like.
Going back to the question of millennials and whether they could be arsed to spend time in a shed, I'm not holding my breath. The major problem they have is the goals and targets culture, which has been rammed down their throats by politicians and MBAs since senior school, plus short attention span and the desire for instant results/gratification.
Goals and targets mean that they are constantly living in the future and treating the present as a means to some hypothetical end. The present requires that they focus on what they are doing, put down the iPhone, Facebook, stop twittering, get shot of the sense of entitlement, and do some work. That's where the creativity lies, that's where the eureka moment is hidden.
Whether they can shut out the incessant noise and think, is the burning question that they are going to have to face up to and ultimately answer for themselves at some point. Has the ability to think for themselves also been bred out of a lot of them by the purely academic, results focussed education system we have been saddled with for the past twenty years? If that is the case (which I think it might have been) then they have double trouble.
Pertinent questions, whether it's to do with hi-fi or not.
