Another ride in the rain this morning, some more strength added and more calories burnt;

Out again early this morning before more rain is forecast to arrive. I headed east out onto a ridge above the Somerset levels then back for a hard climb up onto the top of the Quantock Hills;
I took a short break for something to eat when I dropped down onto the levels. This is the River Tone (which flows through Taunton some miles upstream), which is pretty full at the moment. The houses are about six feet below the water level, just protected by the embankment;
The hill in the background on this one isn't Glastonbury Tor, it's a smaller version called Burrow Mump, just outside the village of Burrowbridge;
Fitness is coming along nicely and the extra pounds are falling away. The big 120mile ride in August is still a good way in the future so I'm confident I'll be ready. I've also just taken delivery of a Wahoo Tickr chest band heart rate monitor so I'll be able to collect heart rate data for my ride metrics once I've got it configured to talk to my phone and the RidewithGPS app.

I like the pic of the mini Tor Ray. Coool.
Normal local loop for me yesterday, 2 mins 2 seconds faster than last week...
Departed: Mar 11, '18, 03:03PM
Distance: 13.8 mi
Elevation: + 621 / - 622 ft
Max Grade
8.5 %
Avg. Grade
0.1 %
VAM 358 Vm/h
Ascent time 00:31:43
Descent time 00:25:52
Total Duration: 01:08:24
Moving Time: 00:57:35
Stopped Time: 00:10:49
Max Speed: 27.6 mph
Avg. Speed: 14.4 mph
Pace: 00:04:57
Moving Pace: 00:04:10
What the stats don't show is me getting T-Boned by a daft yoot on a front-brakeless MTB. Knocked me flying because he couldn't stop on the cycle track we were both on. The tit! I've got a sore shoulder, sore hip and grazed knee (Muuuuuum!) but Scobswell looks a bit poorly on the fork fromtage where the collision took place. Needs investigation.
Erks.

Rumours of a minor earth tremor in the London area are bassless, according to a spokesperson.
It may have been caused by cyclistical interactions at surface level.
I hope you are not too badly damaged Dave.

He was found on a mudbank on the side of the Thames almost choked to death with a cheese and piccalilli sandwich stuffed into his mouth, and taken off to a local mental hospital for treatment to recover from the flavour.

I trust there was a full and frank exchange of views?
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.
