Glad Mr Capsey is working out for you Mr. Bass.

I thought it was time to get my legs moving again so went out for a spin from work yesterday lunchtime;

Departed: Aug 23, '18, 12:12PM
Starts in: Taunton Deane, England, GB
Distance: 22.3 mi
Elevation: +1017/-1025ft
Max Grade: 6.6 %
VAM: 441 Vm/h
Total Duration: 01:16:09
Moving Time: 01:15:43
Calories: 879
Avg. Watts: 194
Max Speed: 34.1 mph
Avg. Speed: 17.7 mph
Moving Pace: 00:03:23
Max Heartrate: 144 bpm
Min Heartrate: 68 bpm
Avg. Heartrate: 117.4 bpm

This training malarky seems to work as I set PBs on about half a dozen of the segments.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Some more pictures. First a couple of me on the front pulling the group along (I did a lot of that);

And finally, I bet Mr. Bass doesn't have too many encounters like this on his London laps;

Or in other words, acting as a wind shield that the others can hide behind :D

Indeed Mike, though to be fair to the others, I was one of the stronger riders in the group and I do most of my riding alone so I'm used to shifting air. I had the satnav too.

I found some tips and advice for amatour cyclists in the Weekly. I think you all know these things, though.

This year's Tour of Britain (with Messrs Froome and Thomas) is visiting the West Country next week; I'm planning to ride, with a few others, down to Cranbrook, near Exeter, next Monday for the start of the stage and then take a direct route to Willand, (while they take the long way around, about three times as long) to watch them race by there. I'll do something around 80miles to see less than a minutes action! Coffee and cake on the agenda after Willand though so it'll be worth it.

I know I've posted this before, but it seems like a good time for a reminder...

Rules 12 and 47 look to be written with us in mind (plus a special mention of #29 for DTB...!) :wink:

I really need to get back on the bike. Haven't touched it this year, mostly due to hifi building!

Perhaps I'll cycle to the next Owston - but not if I'm taking my new amp which I'm expecting to weigh in at around 20kg (the PSU around the same). Perhaps some sort of trolley arrangement...

Had a good ride out with some work colleagues today to catch the Tour of Britain in a couple of locations;

Departed: Sep 03, '18, 07:20AM
Starts in: Taunton Deane, England, GB
Distance: 65.3 mi
Elevation: +4315/-4287ft
Max Grade: 12.9 %
VAM: 482 Vm/h
Moving Time: 04:25:19
Calories: 2962
Avg. Watts: 186
Max Speed: 35.2 mph
Avg. Speed: 14.8 mph
Moving Pace: 00:04:04
Max Heartrate: 150 bpm
Min Heartrate: 65 bpm
Avg. Heartrate: 114.4 bpm

Image

We met up in the village of Hemyock, about 10miles south of Taunton and rode down to the stage start at Cranbrook, near Exeter, before heading up to see them past at Willand, then coffee and cake at Uffculme Mill before heading home.

Here we are at Hemyock;

Here's some my group at Cranbrook checking out the Team Sky support car and team coach;

The stage gets underway;

and by Willand five riders were in a break 4mins ahead of the peleton;
