I've committed to two charity rides this year.
In May I'm riding the Air Ambulance Coast to Coast again, 55 miles from Watchet to West Bay. I really enjoyed it when I took part in 2017.
On July 8th I'm organising a charity ride under the auspices of my workplace's adopted charity for 2019, Mind. It'll be a 120mile tour of Somerset - any of the Audio Talk cycling fraternity will be welcome to join us.
120 miler sounds cool. What's the profile like? July is a decent timeframe...
SWMBO and I have done a number of 100 milers and one 300km (in a day), but that was a year or so ago
We plan on a few 100s this year plus the beachy head marathon in October, so aggressive targets are being set.,
The route will be a hilly challenge for the first half with a pretty flat second - the idea is to provide some shorter routes for less able cyclists to ride in the afternoon. Obviously the more riders I can get participating the more money we can raise, whic is the primary motivation.
Anyway, the primary route is still being worked on but is likely to be close to this;
Heres a couple of pics of the frame i had baking in front of the log burner a few weeks ago.
It's got mostly period parts from 1951.
It was originally a fixed wheel model, and is a Hobbs of barbican, model 14.
It rides well but only done around 5 miles on it so far
I'm now working on a mid 50s Bates cantiflex.

The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number
Very very nice and minimalist Steves, I like that. I don't think I could reach the handlebars grips myself but very nice all the same. Nice rebuild, well done.
If you want it tested across London just pop it in the post!

London would be a good place for it Dave. I'm not sure fit enough yet for any hills with it
Those handle bars are quite special stratalite 'south of france' bends.. but they are quite a drop, but seem to look right with grips on
Cheers

Had a great outing in the rusting x19, roof off, wind in the hair (what’s left of it), blue skies and warm temperatures. Roll on summer, let’s hope it’s a good one....
It's been another beautiful day down here so I cried off my planned gym session and banged in a 15mile 'scenic' ride home in the evening sunshine instead. I was on my heavy old hybrid but still managed an average 15mph, burning more calories than a gym session without the associated boredom.
Good call !
It was starting to get dark when I left, then I had to go shopping. It had been a long day. I spend a fair amount of time in a meeting room looking at the view out of the window, after I had presented, wishing I was outside.
