In my defence, it's pretty rural down here and I saw way more cows than people. Also, the cows are much less nicer, and certainly better mannered than the thug in the white van who pulled out of a side road in front of me!
That's the problem Ray, had this action by Mr thug resulted in an accident then Police and Ambulance might have been to be deployed. Still, that could also happen if you were close to home.
A lot of people are having to make difficult personal decisions regarding their "freedom" in these troubled times.
I don't suppose the couple who got stuck on Ingleborough ever considered what might happen, but 60 miles from home is NOT local in anyones language.
I actually encountered Mr. Thug only about 100metres from my front door. Generally speaking, it would be a lot less safe to cycle short loops around the urban town area than out on the country roads from both covid and RTA perspectives.
Anyway, back in the garage on my static smart trainer for the rest of the week.
It appears that a generally accepted interpretation of the guidance with respect to 'local' is that the exercise should start and finish at your 'front door'. There is seemingly no current stipulation about the distance you travel from your front door.
It would seem that Bojo's bike ride in the park was in line wth the guidance.

My understanding from the law is that you should stay IN AREA...
The law wrote:You should minimise time spent outside your home, but you can leave your home to exercise. This should be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area.
Maybe as the PM he thinks the whole country is his local area?
Just been out for the first ride for about 4 weeks. Just the usual 17-ish mile jaunt on the valley roads. Saw a few snowdrops under the trees ( the cycle begins again ).
Surprised to see how the hills are devoid of snow despite a heavy covering last Saturday. The rain must have been quite mild at times this week.

Enjoyed a free range ride today, a relief to be out in the open with some sun after a week of virtual rides after work in the garage; these last couple of weeks have been really hard and a nice lumpy 25mile work out works wonders when you're going stir crazy!
After riding in the garage all week on Zwift I thought I would take in some fresh air yesterday - it was cold but it was a beuatifu clear blue sky. A lumpy 25 mile ride, 12.5miles out West then retrace the route home. It turned out to be a big mistake as heavy sleet/snow started at the turn point and I had to ride all the way back in it. I was warm while it was dry but once the wet penetrated I got really cold and could barely change gear by the end - haven't been that cold for a long time and took a while to stop shivering once i got home. I still have the 'warm' sensation in my fingers that you get after they've been really cold.
I watched the cyclo-cross men's world champoinship race earlier this afternoon - cyclo-cross on the beach at Ostend no less - they were actually riding in the sea because that's where the sand was firmest - worth a watch, you can find it on BBC iPlayer.
