Aching still, I think the injections are wearing off. Meh. I think I need to get some more help.

Still at work but on painkillers some days which helps take the edge off.

Blimey Dave, sorry to hear that...

It seems steroids are the way if you go NHS.

You could give CBD a go... I was told that long term steroids was they way for me - no thanks...

I no longer take pain killers or naproxen.

Ta Neal,
I asked the GP and the Rheumatologist, there's no real proof of what causes it but.... I've a predisposition (in their word) to Autoimmune system problems, I've had Vitiligo too for about 14 years, yup, its another Autoimmune system disease. Could be genetics? Dad the Bass was disabled by my age with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Mum the Bass had PMR in her late 70s.

It's all a bit crap really.

Thanks Simon, so do I matey. In retrospect, Its been brewing since the beginning of the year, I thought it was just me being a bit clapped out so being a wally just ignored it and put it down to going back to full-time work and resuming my dazzling career back up in the big smoke after a near 4 year break.

Oops!

I'm going to sound like a scratched record here.. but anyway .. !
Were you involved in the vitamin D discussions at all, or taking any ?
Only - any search of autoimmune disorders and Vitamin D shows loads of links.
There's even a Youtube video about Vitamin D and how it can be a substitute for Prednisone/prednisolone.
Vit D is like a steroid once it's active in the body.

FWIW, my GP, who is a friend we've known for 25 years and who's opinion I respect, is also taking D3.

He also thinks that the government plans for Xmas are madness. Mind you, he was recommending steroids for my arthritic hands but is really impressed with the effects that CBD has had.

For the first time in over a year, I can now get my wedding ring back on... the swelling in the finger joints has reduced massively...

No, I haven't followed the Vit D thread TBH Mark though I did a search regarding Auto Immune Diseaes and Vit D, interesting reading.

Having had Vitligo for about 14 years I've had to be very very careful about exposing my skin to sunlight. I've no UV protection and don't 'go brown' anymore so have to cover the exposed skin in SPF50 before I go out in the summer when there's full-on blazing sun to avoid sunburn.

I wonder if thats affected my Vit D levels?

Speed reading through the thread I remember Nick (Jack) mentioning even in the Sunny UAE that folk have Vit D deficiencies. Erks.

You're probably very deficient - unless you eat a lot of herring ( eg. herring & piccalilli sandwiches )
My sister and her husband were recently tested at the lower end of the UK range despite taking D in the winter, and going on hols to Tenerife three times a year.
So this is good news - you've got something to try, that might make a big difference.

I shall go out on the bike this afternoon to celebrate !

Herring, no, I'm Veggie by choice so no meat or fish. Piccalilli on the other hand = nom noms.

OK, I've ordered some Vit D3 tabs linked-to in the Vit D thread. If I'm not cycling superbly by next weekend I'll ride to Whaelz and demand a refund directly from you! :)

Enjoy your ride Mark, go Team-AudioTalk.

Sun bathing is not something many local folk do in the UAE. And a lot of peeps cover up far more comprehensively for various reasons.

It's a bit like the high rate of obesity and malnourishment in the USA. Possibly.
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

Dave, maybe take one tablet every other day at the start, just in case something weird happens , what with you having this polymyalgic condition. Then bump it up to every day.
I'm racking my brains for where you would have got any D then - mushrooms, if they've been exposed to the sun. A little bit from milk or cheese.

Bike ride was good - although short, as I set off a bit late ( 2:30pm ). Must get some modern lights ....
Did just over an hour. Sun even came out near the end. Cool, but quiet.
In fact the wind was so light, the smoke from a couple of chimneys I saw, was going straight up. Just like in the books where they show you the diagrams for the Beaufort numbers.
