After the feast comes the reckoning and so it was today. After a couple of days off the bie and over-indulging in sweet things I put in an extra shift today. In spite of it being blustery and spitty I really enjoyed the ride and felt strong.

Very good.
I'm just planning to go out, not sure ( beyond strong wind ) what to expect, it just rained on me when I went to the bin, against all predictions from the met Office, so a waterproof could be handy.

That was fun. Took a trip North up to Rhuddlan Castle ( entrance ) and back via other lanes. Wind was strong but seemed to be helping more than it hindered. Only one short shower, that was at the Castle, i just stood up by a big stone wall and ate my sandwich. Roads still not too busy.
Not sure of the distance, must be around 30 miles.
Took 2hrs 12min ( 141bpm average ) . Some hills, but a fair bit of flat, especially on the way out.

That's a good distance Mark.Sounds like you were lucky with the wind, it was relentless down here and i even had to pedal down some of the hills. Because of the wind I concentrated on elevation rather than distance or speed - basically up, down, up, down, home!

Madness! About 3 hours behind schedule ATM... 118,000 ft of climbing...

I wonder what state she'll be in at the end of it? Feet & joints likely to be disaster areas.

You can get some idea from Steve Birkenshaw's blog in 2014 :

A good hard ride out to West Somerset this afternoon, really nice conditions for a change and good to set personal bests on the steepest big of the big climb - got my HR into the 150bpm range, close to my threshold - felt good (afterwards!).
