Exactly ! The top section, on the snow and shortly after, is barely believable.

I've now done rides of 20-25miles for seven consecutive days - I've had some leave so have been heading out between 6:30 and 7:30 every morning and mixing up the type of rides too, yesterday was a flat 20miles at 19mph and today was 21miles with 2000ft of elevation gain and a max. gradient of 14.6%. I feel really strong, the hills seem to be less steep than they used to be, which is good because before the days draw in too much more I have a long route planned that includes a climb from sea level to about 1500ft in around 4miles.
I'm heading in the opposite direction to Mr Bass, this morning the scales said 12st 2lbs so only 4-6lbs to go to get to my target - not carrying extra pounds up hills helps a lot btw. Three years ago (it was August 2016 when I took delivery of my first decent bike in around 40yrs) when I decided to do something about staying alive I was 17st!
Shedding that weight and getting fit has transformed me, I have a much better/healthier diet, my resting heart rate is around 50bpm, my blood pressure is around 120/70, my body fat is 19.4%, my BMI is 23 and that all manifests itself as having more energy and sleeping better. Oh, and I've become a pain in the backside in the way of a reformed smoker!
Sorry to be a bore but I just had to tell someone.

That's a major achievement - well done Ray. It's difficult to imagine you at 17st !

Did my toughest/highest climb today, a very lumpy 9miles from sea level to 1350ft. There are a couple of quite long and steep sections an I almost convinced myself that t was too hard for me but in the end I didn't struggle at all - not the fastest ascent though!
All in, I enjoyed a beautiful morning riding a 50mile loop out to the Bristol Channel with a very pleasant break for coffee and flapjack at the Driftwood Cafe on Blue Anchor sea front.

At about 1000ft, looking back down to the Bristol Channel from whence I started the climb;
and the very welcome sight of the Raleigh's Cross Inn at (almost) the top of the climb (sorry about the glare, I didn't notice it with my shades on);
Interesting history in this area. Nowadays it is very quiet and rural but 150years ago it was a literally a hive of industry with several iron mines served by a railway (with a long/steep inclined plane) to Watchet from where the ore was transported to South Wales. Hardly anything left now, a few buildings and humps in the fields, but worth exploring.
