Nice one Ed ...she looks lovely
All the wheels I've 'restored' have worked a treat with a good clean out and fresh grease... they all where gritty before I started..
My only advice is to put lots of grease in there to act as a barrier to the road dirt that can easily get in.
The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

I've had the wheel out and investigated.....it's a Shimano exage rm50 hub.....
the cones are slightly pitted, the cups also.....as there don't seem to be any replacements for that Shimano set I've thoroughly cleaned(all the balls seperately) and lathered in grease and reassembled.

The wheel still pings a bit when spun....doesn't seem I can do much more without buying a new wheel.

It'll have to do for the time being.

btw...what's a clincher?

Whahey! First proper ride on the new road bike this morning, my normal 20 miles out and back route. I spent a fair bit of time adjusting my position last weekend so it was comfortable from the off and the bike just felt as though it wanted to be ridden fast, so I did; I took 4.5mins off my previous best time over the route in spite of it being windy! Chuffed with that.

Indeed - nice numbers...

My own ride today was cancelled as SWMBO had a relapse so I ended up doing the Lenten lunch instead of her in the church. Fed a bunch of folk and raised needed funds for a mental health garden project.

Aaargh! The only place I could get red nylon toe clip straps for my new commuter/utility bike was here;

https://www.santafixie.co.uk/

Two pairs duly ordered. I hope the slope isn't slippery!

I should be riding the new bike by next weekend. The new cassette arrived yesterday so today I did a temporary install of the chainset so I could check the chain line and order the right width bottom bracket bearing. The bike will have a single chainring and 9speed derailleur ob the back so I've ordered a BB to align the chain ring with the middle sprocket. I'll take some pictures when it's up together (then it'll be clear why I wanted red straps!).

I got out again this morning for 25miles that included a long 10% climb but overall I took it in a more relaxed fashion than yesterday at just 15.1mph average.

Looks like you took a couple of bites out of it though!

New runabout bike is booked in for a checkover tomorrow, mainly to double check my build but also to set the rear derailleur indexing up correctly - never been able to master the finer art of slick gear changing. Anyway should get a first ride on it tomorrow. Pictures soon.

New bike got the thumbs up after it's check today and it had its first trip out today with a ride to work and back - rides very nicely. The only issue is that I need to buy a longer (400mm) seat pin as the standard one (300mm) I had in the garage isn't long enough to get the saddle to the right height for me, its about 25mm to low.
