Yes, it's a 'Made in China' frame but it looks really nice, very neat welding, and it's a reasonable weight.

I have some Tektro hydraulic discs, still attached to the straight bars I removed from my Specialized Sirrus Elite when I fitted drops and a 105 groupset. The frame has disc mounts though I'll have to use post to IS adaptors with the Tektros.

this must be worth some serious kudos...the techy approach to route recording:

route1.jpg
Harry Holdsworth is out of action, awaiting a new pair of schwalbe 'cor blimeys' so I had to borrow the mem sahib's Raleigh Activator. After putting one of my racing saddles on I set off into the Hull rush hour traffic bound for switch electronics, dropping son off at school en route.

Time in saddle: 25 mins
risk factor: 97%
equiv Holdsworth distance: 25 miles approx by feel.

Some bits arrived today so the new steed now has a headset, seat pin clamp and a pair of new Schwalbe Marathons.

Knowing that route... you have set a conservative risk factor there.

I've just bought a new saddle for the Mem Sahib's raleigh and reclaimed mine.

It's a Selle Royal for girlies and I ordered it on Monday on return from my intrepid expedition to switch electronics. It arrived this morning...so I have great praise for these people......the gel seat was £10.....

I'm looking forward to the clocks going forward shortly as the gym sessions are getting pretty boring now and it'll be nice to ride out after work to the lanes on a proper bike. That said, the spin bike sessions in the gym are delivering - 3 sessions this week totalling 33.9 virtual miles at a vitual average speed of 23.2mph.

I hope to get out for a proper ride early tomorrow.

I got no numbers as I neglected to turn on my GPS watch even though I charged it specially this morning 🤔

However, it was a 55 mile hilly loop with the San Fairy Ann intermediate group - averaging about 15 mph continuously with a cafe break halfway.

I am completely destroyed. It's too soon after the 'flu, I'm not fit enough, and I'm lardy... It was a wake-up call. Got a puncture too...

Out for 4 hours solid (plus a 30 minute break). Nothing left in my legs at all. Couldn't even go upstairs two at a time...

Conclusion: Must try harder!!!

Silly man, fancy going out before you had recovered.

Ouch!

Or.

Just cycle on your own and enjoy it!?

I'm not surprised you're clapped out at that pace they were riding at TBH Nick. Just slowly work your way up to a higher av speed if you want to but enjoy the ride, don't get too wrapped-up in the club/pace/'sport' thang. There's a whole wonderful world of fun that you can enjoy riding a bike without being in a club or being overly competitive about it.

Not good Nick, hope you're not suffering so much today. I wouldn't want to go from virtually nothing to 50miles at >15mph - you need to build your strength and be patient rather than just subjecting yourself to more pain by pushing harder - fitness will come quite quickly but get some shorter runs in several times a week without worrying too much about your speed. The nice new bike is just the icing.

I got out again early this morning and included a long hard climb (top half is more than a mile at >10%). I'm feeling strong and my weight is almost back to where it was last August (first number is firmly a 12 now);

Departed: Mar 24, '19, 08:05AM
Distance: 24.9 mi
Elevation: + 1746 / - 1736 ft
Max Grade: 10.7 %
VAM: 539 Vm/h
Moving Time: 01:36:16
Calories: 977
Avg. Watts: 169
Max Speed: 33.8 mph
Avg. Speed: 15.5 mph
Moving Pace: 00:03:52
Max Heartrate: 131 bpm
Min Heartrate: 58 bpm
Avg. Heartrate: 107.4 bpm
