Ditto !
I'm starting to think this may be the difference between 'Fixed' and 'Fixie'.
'Fixed' is a bike for roadies to use in the winter, often on clubruns, mudguards definitely required.

Fixed is a way of looking at things deffo, call it what you will...each to one's own says I. Maybe I coukd be persuaded for being cool in and around town but for longer ormore getiatric situations I'm happy to use gears - while I still can!
It was raining on Monday
It was raining today though fewer drops.
Still no bike though - strictly fair weather lazy bastard.
So I went for a walk.

Its just a gearing choice, not a fashion item IMO!
Yeah, a bit damp here for the last 2 days on the epic 0.4 mile bike commute too.

Seconded!
I keep meaning to fit them to my Dawes, my only bike (I have three!) that doesn't have them....
Distant memories of sitting in Manchester Uni lecture theatres with a wet bum all morning have scarred me for life!

'Oh bugger', said Badger..
It was the pic of your Dawes that convinced me the mudguards were extra to requirement...
ok, I give in, they can stay.
but I wont be going out in the wet anyway.....fairweather cyclist now

Brrrrrr! Cor, it was cold this morning and some nasty ice patches around so had to be a little cautious and keep my wits about me but I got some more miles in my legs so building up nicely and the pounds are shifting. Not my quickest pace as my legs felt pretty leaden, probably something to do with the chilly weather as I feel fine. Anyway, the stats;
Starts in: Taunton Deane, England, GB
Distance: 27.5 mi
Elevation: + 1737 / - 1740 ft
Max Grade: 12.9 %
VAM: 445 Vm/h
Moving Time: 01:57:43
Calories: 1113

Need to change the plugs in the wife’s mini (has a misfire) but it’s too darn cold to go outside!

Cor, what's wrong with you guys...
I gave the winter bike a good clean and service outside the garage this morning.
Tomorrow I'm getting the train down to see mum, who lives in Fareham. I'm planning to leave the train at Southampton and cycle this route to see her;

I've no idea why, but you just reminded me of this:
Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life
sleep tight

7 miles....in the snow. Very early this morning. It would have been half of this but when I got home I realised I'd dropped my keys and had to go all the way back to North Wing (blood tests) pick them up and return home before getting changed and zooming off to work. For 'work' it was today - first time this year. How novel. But work meant posh suit so I used the car to get on...

I forgot to post about my Monday ride; around 9am I got off the train at a very cold and windy Southampton Central station and cycled along Southampton Water and the Solent to Gosport, opposite Portsmouth dockyard, and thence onto Fareham for an afternoon with my mum - 31miles all together. It was a pretty hardcore ride in places, the supposed national cycle route was only suitable for mountain bikes in places, but fun all the same. Ride details are here;

and I even remembered to take some pictures - no woolly hats or cheese and Piccalilli sarnies though.
the little pink boat is the Hamble/Warsash ferry I just got off
Where the river Meon meets the sea
and the ferry terminal at Gosport with Portsmouth on the other side of the water

Nice ride n piccies RayP, wasn't tempted to ride back home on the M27?
I did the usual 13.8 mile local fitness loop today. Lovely to be out again but everywhere is mucky muck....
But, today I noticed a personal milestone in my cycling, yey!
Just over 10,000 miles on the Phickseed and Single speed bikes.
I'm having a beer
