Happy Christmas one and all!
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

25+ folk (& dogs) going on a walk round the village (its breezy here ATM) - about 6 miles - then bumper tea & cakes all round at our place...

We do this every New Year's Day. Sweeps out the cobwebs...

Dunnit. Bit nippy and very breezy but fun all the same.

Forgot it was the New Year Parade, duh, today, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-30649111 huge numbers of peeps all around the West End. Diverted South over Waterloo and headed up to Battersea over the bridge then wound my way back through the West End then back through the city and out back to the Pub/Home.

First longish run on latest minimalist lightweight Fixed Gear project bike, fella at work was just about to chuck his old commuter bike in a skip (no really) but popped into our workshop to see if I wanted to raid any 'bits' off it. Most 'bits' were totally mullered but the frame is very light and very strong. A bizarre mix of 'mountain bike' geometry (stupidly high bottom bracket height) and over-sized frame tubing but with track ends to facilitate Fixed Gear/Single Speed chain tensioning. Odd, but its turned out nice thanks to a donor front wheel from our-SimonC, a Brooks saddle from JTS as a Christmas Pressie and the rest just hard graft and parts by me!

If I'd have known you were riding Dave, I would have got up from my sick bed and joined you.

HNY everyone. :)

Good effort Dave - 'respect due' as Stouffer would say !
Brooks saddle - classic kit . I always found they were uncomfortable at the start each time but get more comfortable the longer you ride. Must get one again , been faffing about with various saddles in recent years .

Happy New Year everyone :D
I've been in the Lake district for a week, avoiding everything like e-mail etc .
Managed a couple of big hills this time ( rare for me at this time of year ) : Blenacathra from Threlkeld on Tuesday was ace - up the left-hand ascent , sun & snow on the summit ridge, then down Hall's Fell ridge ( tricky , snow at the start ! ) ; then on Friday, Lonscale Fell - also from the cottage at Threlkeld - bit of a trek, went up the steepest ascent ( bit desperate ! ) to the East peak . Descended into a quaking bog that almost froze my feet off . A couple of memorable days there .

Ta, it fun riding the latest speed steed. The B17 is ace, comfy out the box which in contrary to some folk lore though I did take time to Proofide mine before fitting it and took time setting it up to suit my, errrr... riding position and 'physique' (shurrup in advance Popz! )

nice work on the hill joggin'! 'Spect!

Well done DtB!

Didn't do a bike ride but on Saturday we rented the local swimming pool for an hour and ten of us each swam 80 to 90 lengths raising money for Medair for Syrian refugees in Jordan and the Lebanon. At £850, aiming for £1000.

Would have done 100 lengths if the photographer from the local rag hadn't taken so long... it'd been good if we'd managed the 1000 lengths in an hour...
