Resurrection of a moribund thread...
Did my back in in the gym Monday evening. Lower lumber spasm. Tuesday spent largely flat on back on floor. Got to see lovely Norwegian physio in morning who stuck 20 or so needles into my back. That, along with a bucket of muscle relaxants (not from hhgttg) and pain killers plus another visit to the lovely Lene on Wednesday has got me up and about again. No gym until next week though....

Sorry to hear about your back problem Nick - give it time to recover and enjoy the physio!
I'm pretty much over my back injury, just a few twinges now, and have started working in earnest to prepare for my 120mile bike ride in August. Three gym sessions this week and discernable improvement each time - In 20mins on the spin bike earlier this evening I did a nominal 7.1miles.
Anyway, look after yourself.

Ran the Ras al Khaimah half marathon this morning.
3AM start from here as it's a fair distance - official start at 06:45.
Was aiming for 2:23 but ended up on 2:29 as my back was giving out at the end... and I hate running. Feel pretty good though. Chuffed, even...
Winning men's time was 58:42, fifth fastest in history. 11 of the elite men's group had run under 60:00. Insane.
Map is what I ran. Got a Garmin Vivoactive 3 as present to self this week. Today was its first outing...

89kg ... and I couldn't run myself out of a wet paper bag.

Define 'a bit'... with a bit of luck and a tail wind...

I used to be a skinny stick-figure who never ate puddings etc, then I married a dairy farmer's daughter. They didn't just have ordinary dairy cattle. Nope, they had Jersey cows - cream was not cream unless you could stand a spoon up in it. Hereford and Sussex beef animals too. Rare breed pigs. Sheep. Deer. They could eat for England. Meat. Oh, there's a LOT of meat.Dave the bass wrote: ↑Fri Feb 09, 2018 1:06 pm 84.36kg here.

Also helps that SWMBO is a top cook who makes about 10 different types of ice cream, half a dozen of so types of bread, and Lord alone knows how many types of cakes etc.

I faded a bit towards the end. Quite happy though, as had no sleep at all the night before and the longest training run I had done was only 4km...
