#1 BT telephone poles.
Has anyone any experiences of getting a Wayleave with BT for having a telephone pole on their property ?

We have two - one for a cottage in the grounds and one for the main house - they are fed from a pole in the lane adjacent, however, they only service our land - Just had both replaced with new ones...pre65 wrote:Has anyone any experiences of getting a Wayleave with BT for having a telephone pole on their property ?
Does your one service other properties? What exactly is the issue?

Yes, my pole feed two other houses.
I have rung the BT wayleave department and they are sending me details.
I understand they don't backdate wayleave payments, which is a pity cos the pole has been "mine" for 20 years.

Argh! I didn't know you could get payment for a pole on your land. I've had one in my garden for 18 years, they just took it out last week and replaced it with another (huge) one, in the alley outside my property.

They're poles? I thought they were trees with talking wire on top.

I'm not sure that is necessarily true. They will tell you lots of things to stop paying.pre65 wrote:Yes, my pole feed two other houses.

The original way-leave agreement will have the the payment structure (depends on type of pole and how many stays etc.) which is updated periodically in agreement with the NFU and CLA.
It is amazing what happens when you stand below one of their poles with a chainsaw idling!

It's good to be afraid of chainsaws. They are NOT toys to play with.

Nah, chainsaws are fun! Here a limb, there a limb, everywhere a limb limb....deep in the heart of Texas...pre65 wrote:It's good to be afraid of chainsaws. They are NOT toys to play with.
Blood, gore, intestines, innards, marmite.... yee-hah!
Telegraph poles were those things you could never climb as a kid and you always wanted just to reach the steps just to reach the top.
We could never do it but some flash git named Peter Chandler once managed to reach the top of one. Of course we hated him forever.
