Addendum: I'm not implying the conference is rubbish or anything like that. :D )

According to local radio the take off time has been put back to 15:10 today, something to do with the French President.

Saw the Dakotas yesterday - they overflew our village at about 4:40 - a couple of hours late...

Not easy to photograph against a grey sky, but an awesome sight & sound.

Bit of a straggly formation - strung out over a big distance...

Lots of the village were out & watching.

I asked the pilots to not fly over Dirtfud.

The locals get scared of "big silver bird high in sky" thinking that its been sent by the Lord of the Mountain because they've angered him or summat.

I was on the bowls green when they went over about 4:30.

Bit disappointing really as they were quite strung out.We paused the match to watch them.

The last two fighters (Spitfires ?) were much more exciting, looking like they were racing. Didn't recognise their livery though.

When I were a lad my dad played cricket in Jersey once a year for his team “The Hampshire Maniacs” we went in a Dacota and my Dad a ww2 veteran told me what a wonderful aeroplane it was.

On D day as a seaman he was escorting (destroyer) supplies to Russia. A massive part of the war effort .

I think I vaguely heard some like aeroplane noise late in the afternoon - Boston, Lincs...

When was the flight Paul? I only ask because my first job (weekend job while at school) was assisting the engineers who maintained a few Dakotas based at Jersey airport. The airline was Intra Airways I think. This would have been around 1978. You may have flown in one of the planes I worked on?

I've just had the Cottingham folk festival leaflet arrive through the letter box. A couple of things caught my eye, Julie Felix at £16 when all the other acts are priced between £25 and £35....sadly appears she is a waning star....

the odd entry for me is John Otway and Willy Barrett...folk festival, go figure? Unfortunately they are 'sold out'. Isn't it frustrating when you hear the latest news, and it's sold out.....who gets to hear these things first!

Saw Otway and Barrett last night at a gig near Newbury.
Excellent, but would have difficulty categorising them.
Perhaps rock, comedy, folk,

Otway puts on a show on May Morning in Oxford at 7.00am outside the Bear pub, been there every year since retiring.

Cheers Richard

I would lover to see those guys live. Friend of mine in London said he saw them playing on a street corner once in the '80's , near Tottenham court road, with amps, doing stuff like 'Really Free' .

Just a short episode of "Coast" from 2012 about Marconi in Ireland - not for a technical audience but fun stuff.

Marconi's full history in Ireland seems to have some inconsistencies , but this is really quite fun - I love the absolutely massive capacitors he had.

Shame folk isn’t my genre. Like Julie Felix though.
