Now you're just showing off.

Getting jealous. Last time I did camping was clocks back weekend, bluddy cold. I was reminded why I stopped doing camping in Autumn - Winter Image

Cover them dunes in concrete and you'd have a brill skatepark!

Right, a motorbike question... For the MOT, does a 1993 bike have to have mirrors fitted to pass the test? It did originally come fitted with rear view mirrors but hasn't got them at the moment, would that be a fail? Anyone know off hand?

There is no legal requirement for a motorcycle to have rear view mirrors, therefore it is not part of a motorcycle MOT test.

Whether they were fitted as original equipment (or not) is irrelevant.

Hope that helps.

(information was passed to me by an active motorcycle MOT tester). :)

Thanks Ant, its been on the back burner for so many years,

That bike was my 'temporary' work bench for the last 16 years down the old shed, I made Saburo, Fonkens, FH3, FE167 MLTL, FE167 Fonkens and LS3/5a's on that saddle with a lump of chipboard spanning the Tank to the rear rack which I've now removed. There's a few dents and dings in the paintwork but its survived being loudspeaker workbench :)

Not unsurprisingly there was a ton and half of sawdust in every orifice of the bike i had to clear-out during the rebuild.

Crikey! I dislike motorbikes but that is a sight for sore eyes! I likes it.

Looks wonderful - is it a UK or Indian manufactured one?

My younger son spent the summer-before-last in Northern Kashmir riding an Enfield he'd bought and modified up and through mountain passes in the foothills of the Himalayas up to about 18,000ft - photo is of him driving with mate as pillion. Modifications were mostly to the carb to allow the bike to run at altitude.

I know that there's some decent hills round your way too...

In my best BBC Goodness Gracious Me accent....."Indian!", I think the last UK (Redditch) built bikes were about 1962 or so. Mine's a Miracle from Madras and based on the 1955 design built in 1993, a late-Friday afternoon job judging by the quality of the finish/assembly/longevity of the bike originally. I've owned it for ~20 years, 2 of those it actually ran for albeit intermittently....

I've watched a few of those Himalayan trips aboard Bullets, they look flippin' awethumne. They go up Everest or summat on 'em and I can't even get mine out the garden yet :)

Rob did this himself with one of his Indian uni mates - another civil engineer - it wasn't particularly organised - they just set off as a group (a bunch of his Indian friend's mates came along too) and bought some bikes - fixed them up and went off for a month - as a bunch of engineers they had to fix the bikes reasonably often... sold the bikes at the end. He took some GoPro video that was quite cool too...

In some ways Kashmir, Ladakh, Hunza & Swat and so on are favourite places for me.
