Has anyone here ever come across this type of inline plug and socket before? If yes, whats it called? I'm after a male and female of this type to work into the wiring harness on the Redditch Bullet rebuild. The company that market the battery charger its connected to don't seem to sell it as a spare part, meh.

Some little while ago, about the time Methuselah was playing for Spurs, I made a single-ended amp using an 808. This was a dramatic looking affair, resembling something that might have been employed in the animation of Frankenstein's monster.

I have it in mind to make another, some 65 years after the first, and in seeking to source an 808 or CV626, I stumbled across this Japanese site. It might be of interest to some looking for obsolete toobs. https://www.sekaimon.com/itemdetail/254 ... country=GB. :)

Anyone know of where I might obtain one of these rare triodes?

Thanks ed - you have had more success than me.

I made my rather peculiar amp in the middle 'fifties, thinking the circuitry was so much simpler than the Williamson I had built immediately before it. Of course, when I heard the thing, I quickly realised why there was a difference! Back in the Golden Era, HiFi used to be so much fun and infinitely cheaper. A Goldring G500 (the cartridge to have if you couldn't afford the Decca) was about £5 and the excellent Ronette TX88 (for low gain amps) was about three quid. Components, often war surplus with valves having metal envelopes, were dirt cheap. By comparison, the 808 at $125 is ridiculously expensive, although I don't doubt, given its obvious rarity, that this is the sort of price it might command. But much too rich for my blood.

I'll have to find something else to do. Like fitting a new rear tyre to the Ariel. :bounce: And new dampers!

One of our lads' friends who they used to play rugby with, has just got his first international cap... playing for Ghana against the Ivory Coast...

See if you can spot him in the team photo...
