Diet as in what foods you eat, not necessarily the quantity ?

Oddly, Eddie Jordan has high cholesterol ( 8.5 ? ) , I remember from a documentary about him.
I have also heard that if you get to some sort of milestone like 70 years, then if you have high cholesterol then you can forget worrying about it - it's not a risk factor for your body.
Did they give you the HDL and LDL numbers ?

Didn't know what they were until you just wrote it, so no. All the doc did say is that, where it is now, 6.7, means 15% chance of a heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years. She wants to get it under 10%. Bear mind I'm 65 now so we're talking about from now until when I'm 75.

I think so yes. Hello brown bread and lettuce, goodbye cakes and crisps. :(

Also change of cooking techniques, e.g. more grilling, less frying.

Makes sense really Mike. I'm borderline but there's no way I'm taking Statins.

I'd focus on sugar more than fat - there's been a fair bit of research pointing that way in recent years.
I'm overweight but I don't eat much sugar at all, my Cholesterol was 5.0 on the last test.
Only I've seen too many thin vegetarians or vegans die in their 60's from cancer , wives or partners of people I used to work with.

I have genetically high cholesterol, specifically high LDL (the bad one).

Nothing I can do about it, except take a low dosage (10mg) statin every day...

For me, this works well - down from 6.8 (total) to 4.0...

Diet changes only work if you don't have a genetic propensity to high cholesterol....

Lots you can eat that's low in cholesterol, but you do need some to be healthy..

Yep, I think people expect that fat in the diet somehow gets via the stomach, into the blood stream, where it forms fatburgs.

Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Because it leads to the... promoted escalation of class conflict, utilizing state violence to forcibly purge society of the bourgeoisie, whom Stalinist doctrine regarded as threats to the pursuit of the communist revolution. This policy resulted in substantial political violence and persecution of such people. "Enemies" included not only bourgeois people, but also working-class people with counter-revolutionary sympathies.

Oh hang on, no, that was Stalin and Stalinism. Sorry.

You're talking about Statins innit?

This is the kind of thing that appeals to me. Also more fruit. I'm already trying to reduce sugar.
