Wow, there was some thunder and lightning last night.
Denbigh was under a string of heavy showers coming from the South, that lasted about 4 hours. Lightning every 1 or 2 seconds for a couple of lengthy spells. There was a lake forming in the front yard.

Can you repurpose the horn project into some sort of boat should the need arise?
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

According to the forecast we should get them noon tomorrow. (Thursday)

This is the heaviest continuous rain I've had here for very many years. The property is on a slight slope, front highest, and water is running into the garage ( ) and getting up to the level of the front door step.
I don't think I'll ever actually get flooded, looks worse than it is.
But when the pond fills up, might get worse ?
Keh sarah, sarah.

I bought a £13 digital microscope from ebay recently, which arrived yesterday. I set it up on the boss' laptop and looked at the calibration slide which was supplied. I wasn't truly impressed....it was a devil of a job to focus and when it was in focus it was a bit grey and blurry. The led in the microscope was necessary to see anything but on any subject a bit reflective all you can see are 8 led bulbs in a circle....hmmmm
At £13 I thought well you get what you pay for.
This morning I installed it in the newly updated win10 machine...removing the clear plastic cap which I found on the end, and wow, wow and wow....
without the led switched on there's more than enough light from the nearby velux...and 100 micron dot is about 1/4 inch diameter on the screen at medium resolution...no idea what the magnification is but there was plenty to go.....
it focusses back at about 8 inches so it's more than enough to try smd soldering by hand, which is what I bought it for in the first place.....
highly recommended so far....more later

Lens cap
Sounds interesting, Ed. Please can you add a link. Would it work to examine and photograph (take a screenshot) a stylus?

I've seen folk use these mini USB miscroscopes for SRA setup on carts. Do you think that's possible with this gizmo? Seems very cheap.

I was at the Cholmondeley Arms in Cheshire, we got it there Weds evening, proper proper Hammer Horror movie stuff lightning almost continuous, the car park turned into a mini lake (the drains [2 off] obviously don't work). The shrieks from the women trying to get to the cars at chucking out time. I was watching it from my bed.

#11759 canonical
It would seem that Canonical have ended support for 32 bit machines....
I just tried to get an xubuntu 20.04 image for my ageing samsung netbook and it seems there isn't one.....
It currently runs 18.04 but the touchpad periodically stops responding. When I reboot the touchpad is fine. I thought an upgrade might highlight whether it's hardware or software at fault...
oh well...oh poo!
seems I have something else that needs dragging into the 21st century

If it's any consolation, I'm having issues with Atmel Studio 7 and the most recent Windows 10 (2004).
