Yes, I saw that the Electric Lady console is now in a museum. Nice that it’s been preserved, shame it’s not still being used though.

I saw a suggestion to try going for 24 hours without complaining, and see how you feel afterwards.

Worth a try ?

Might not be so easy in these troubled times, but positive thoughts beget positive actions. :)

Positive thinking is for the terminally deluded.
You plan for the worst and hope for the best.

I would suggest you need to plan for both the best and worst, having too much success can be as problematic as too little.

Not sure that article is saying what you think:
By the afternoon I am in a dark and self-defeating mood. In my journal, under the heading “I am grateful for …”, I have absentmindedly scrawled: “Get cat food.” I think about an article from the publication Trends in Cognitive Sciences I read that suggested dispositional optimism is at least partly inherited – to some degree, you either have it or you don’t. And I don’t.

I don’t have dispositional optimism either, never had, never will. This means that I’ve taken five years off my lifespan.
I bet some self serving jolly hockeysticks optimistic annoying twat, came up with that piece of research just to piss me off even more!

Well, no, your lifespan was always what it will be given that the example you mention was not a choice or option "never had, never will".
