is salt water not water as addressed by the IP rating...not sure how it would differ for purposes of the rating.

I was recently looking at IP65 boxes for external weather stations and it occured to me they might be used on oil rigs for outside electrics...I have no real knowledge of this, was just musing.

edit: I've just had a memory jog so the question may be more loaded...Some advice from way back regarding the lipos I use suggested immersion in a bucket of salt water if the battery pack became damaged....not sure what it does but it alludes to the video that Neal posted regarding damage due to accident.

No, don't think they need that to operate either :-)

But I think Neal's link about ip rating covers it.

Because Jean and I have to isolate from 9AM tomorrow,(covid test Monday-hospital Thursday) I needed to get the car emptied today. So, I used the van to tow the car to a dry spot.It also made the lane usable.

We went down to the car to meet the recovery vehicle half hour ago, and since we moved the vehicle some arsehole had driven into the back of the car, and moved it quite a way blocking one of the three roads to that green triangle.

Good job I took photos of it.

I think it turned at this point

"Good job I took photos of it."

It hopefully ceased to be their problem at that point.

Blades are back. Very pleased. Got 6 effectively new blades for 90 quid including 16 quid for p&p (8 each way). Some chipped/broken TCT teeth replaced too.

Price is between about 8 and 14 quid per blade depending on number of teeth.

Company was JJ Dooley in Faversham - I dealt with Tony - communication was excellent. Turnaround was 5 working days.

Thanks for the update Nick, good to know.

The blades almost look like there's something added around the perimeter, to just inside the teeth. Difficult to tell. Or is it just resin build up?

Just like new blades, they come protected with a sort of dip-in plastic that just easily peels off. Just as well as the teeth are extremely sharp.

For those watching His Dark Materials, I have my own alethiometer.

It's a Fowler's Universal Calculator. A little thing of beauty from about 1911. In reality, a pocket slide rule...

I realised after I had sent the photos to the insurance company that the camera date setting was for January 2020, but they rang up this morning and agreed to settle the claim. I managed to get an extra £200 above the first offer so now we need to find another Agila.

Well done. Thanks to the insurance company even if they do get you in the end with their premiums. Prompt action helps enormously.

Good, better if it didn't happen, but at least it was settled. I doubt they could use the date on the pictures eiterh way as it can be set to whatever you want. Holding a copy of one of the days newspaper will prove it wasn't takem in the past.
