Should have mentioned - It's really really useful to have a spare sets of the fly wires (https://store.digilentinc.com/analog-di ... -flywires/ ). At only 10 bucks a set, it makes sense.

I leave the fly wires connected to the breadboard when I'm using the ADII on different projects - much easier than trying to remember where they all went when moving back to a proto board after a while...i.e. you just plug the harness into the ADII and select the saved setup in WaveForms - takes a minute only.

A road near us, in Conisbrough. I did all the underground telephone feeds to the then new bungalows, many years ago when I worked for BT. Couldn’t believe the name of the road.

It has now been changed to Archers Way. People kept nicking the street sign and the council got sick of replacing it

My father-in-law’s parents had a holiday house in Crapstone. Nice little place.
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

Many years ago (just out of university) I lived in Newfoundland, Canada.

I (like everybody there) went to one of the local settlements to send a card home from the post office so it was franked with their postmark.

I kid you not.

#11649 Salt Cellar System

Post by Cressy Snr »

Just thought I’d link to this mono system that was built at ETF 2019.
https://www.stereophile.com/content/gra ... lar-system

Three reasons for posting it:
  • I like Herb Reichert’s writing; always interesting entertaining
  • Despite the fact that I’ll never be able to enter that world, it’s great to read what the audio fringe gets up to.
  • I thought it would be interesting to the horn speaker lovers on here (if you haven’t read it already)

I put diesel into the Volvo yesterday evening; I've just checked and it's the first fuel I've bought since March 14th and that only half filled the tank.

Funny thing though, I got back in the car, started it up and the 'Service' light stayed on - it's booked in for its delayed MOT the week after next so it'll be OK for the handful of miles I'll do before then.

Cant you ask it for more detail on its fault codes? My BMW had a record of when the MOT was due and would nag if the date was passed. May just be that.

Meredith and I did some tweaking to the positioning of the big Mets last night whilst listening to the Darrell Scott albums - just a few centimetres forward and back, and adjusting the toe-in. Seems Meredith's ears are better at picking up changes than mine are, the sound has got quite a bit better as a result of that exercise - tighter bass and better imaging, more music. My own audio memory is really quite rubbish.

Have to say, with the sound we're getting now, I'd put the combination of the big Mets and the big OTLs up against any reference system, any day. I continue to be stunned at how well these work, without having to be in the middle of the room.

TBH Nick, I can't really be bothered much with car stuff nowadays; it's already booked in for a service and MOT and between now and then I expect my mileage to be two trips to Tesco. There was a time when I was really into doing my own servicing and the like but now I look on the car as an appliance.

If the right numbers came up though I would buy a Tesla.
