You put your finger on it there, Dave - I was pondering it myself.

In the spirit of recycling, the gearbox has been packed up in the box that Ray sent me the microwave transformers in. I reinforced the top, bottom and sides with cardboard from another box and stuffed every spare space with recycled bubble wrap. It's off to Cornwall tomorrow.
Incidentally, Parcel2Go (using DHL next day) was CONSIDERABLY cheaper than the service Ebay suggest you use, and DHL price included £150 insurance.

Do u watch Bangers and Cash Phil? I drive through Thornton Dale (indigenous people don’t say the le) most days. Lovely to see the stock, last few days vehicles have been arriving, I wander if they’re expecting to open up and maybe even get an auction going soon.

Yes Paul, it's a really good program to watch. I like the people, and how they do business.Paul Barker wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 12:46 pm Do u watch Bangers and Cash Phil? Surprised, no. Slightly disappointed, yes.
It's a tough puzzle, but it's classical physics and, I think, fascinating... People need to stretch their minds... (I certainly do)
No-one elsewhere has got it yet - I only thought it up late one night unable to sleep and reading about The (ex-Dixie) Chicks.

Slowly, have taken the wheels apart, need to clean up the hubs & repaint, then can respoke with new stainless rims, but I keep being interrupted also weather has been too hot lately but OK at the mo. However with wheels and tyres back on it will be more like an actual bike. Then lots still to do, new handlebars, complete rewire etc.

Cool
I went to my local engineering place on Friday for some bits and pieces and I was talking to the guy who does powder coating for them. He's got a unit on the same estate so he gets loads of business from the firms on there, and does wheels ect.
He was saying that he's done more old bike frames in the last 3 months than he's done since he started the firm up!
Probably a bit of an exaggeration, but its nice that it appears that lots of people are restoring old classics at the moment
Keep plodding on with it mike

Does that mean you are exceptionally clever, or everyone else is as thick as shit, or both ?

This get's worse...ed wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 4:25 pm big trouble at planet hermes at the mo........
I ordered a collection yesterday and paid and got a receipt and notification that courier would be with me today.....
half an hour ago I thought Id track it with the number they gave me.....
transpires it was picked up at 10:13 this morning.....yeah right!....I have it in my hand..
I've tried to get hold of them but it's Saturday....oh waily waily
My eldest' father in law sent me his hi-end laptop to repair last Friday via, you guessed it, Hermes.
It arrived this evening(18:30) while I was busy so Sandrine brought it in from the porch(it wasn't signed for) and left it in the doorway to the work room.
I've just got round to looking at it........the box fell open as I was inspecting it, and it's empty, just packing paper inside.......
I've just checked the emails that Hermes sent and the last one says package delivered at 18:30 signed for by recipient.
As there is no way of contacting Hermes I've raised a case with resolver.co.uk.....
anybody got any further suggestions?
big waily waily!!!!
