Nothing In Particular
#10516 Re: Nothing In Particular
Managed to get a clearaudio alignment protractor jig for just short of 100 quid, less than half the new price. I had really good results with a borrowed Dr feickert protractor last year so when this one came up I decided it would be a good investment given how many arms carts decks I've been setting up for people lately.
Brand new, just the box that was shop soiled. Still a lot of money for a protractor, but hopefully it should be worth it in the long run

Just ruined another TV.
Last time it was Trump.
This time some f*ckwit young work-experience woman on the BBC who kept referring to 'House of Frazier" "House of Frazier" instead of 'Frazer' .
Threw the TV remote at the screen. Another £400 down the drain.
None of this would happen if I could only get my hands inside the TV screen and strangle people.

This morning, I’m mainly listening to a Garrard 301 (not mine unfortunately)
I’m now a broken man.

YATF
Yet Another Telephone Fraud.
This time we got a phone call which when answered was an automated voice purportedly from BT saying that they'd detected hacking activity on our IP and that we'd be disconnected in 24 hours... then "Press 1 to speak to an operator..."
I let the conversation with the jolly chap from the subcontinent play out until I got bored and said - this is really interesting - I'm an IT professional and it's the first time I've had a call with this modus operandi...

I've had several calls of that type.
Every time the number is added to my blacklist.

Little point in blacklisting the number as it's invariably spoofed, I.e. random and nothing to do with the spammer and probably never to be seen again .

I've had a couple this week from BT support to the effect that my security has been compromised...
It crossed my mind that they could do a bit more background before trying it on....there ar no BT lines, connections, or presence in Hull.

I get these calls frequently. I feel that the longer I can tie them up for the less time they have for the poor vulnerable folk out there. I always end the call with some choice anglo saxon.jack wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2019 2:28 pm YATF
