I'd agree with Phil, chances are when you jack the existing joists they will crack in places where the rot is bad. Better to get as much out as possible after jacking it. Wouldn't try moving big heavy stuff until it's shored up with the props though. then replace the joists once the floor boards are up. I'd bet a fair few boards will need replacing too given how far through the joists look. It looks like that job is going to be a complete pain in the arse.
If you wanted something to do, you certainly got it......

It may come to that. However there are probably 2 tonnes or more of tools equipment and stock in there. Lathes, milling machine, drill presses, belt Sanders, 12,000+ nixies, valves & CRTs etc, bulk cabling, computers, loads of HV transformers, big & small Tesla Coils, test equipment, furniture, shelving, 100s of books...

...and it's 100 MTRS from the house, across grass.

Grim prospect.

Got a builder coming to look at it tomorrow. Just for ideas...

If the joists have woodworm and wet rot I'd be quite concerned about the floorboards too.

How about hiring a container and have it dropped off next to the workshop so you can empty and strip the lot out? Huge project, but I'd want to be sure there's no risk of further cross contamination.

Yep - I'm resigned to this being an expensive & time consuming exercise...

(Slightly) happier now Acrows are in under the worst bits with some C24 scaffold boards.

For cheap Acrows, they're reasonable quality.

I am reminded of when Dean from 2 doors up and his dad tiled our roof at the Essex place, there was a wee bit of woodworm signs in the timbers, which we soaked with killer stuff - but anyway, he says look here, these timbers are from the outside of the tree, they (the woodworm) don't go for wood from further in, as is proved by timbers adjacent being completely untouched. One of them you could tell it was from the outside of the tree, as it had a knobbly edge same as a tree with the bark taken off. Which begs the question, how do the woodworm know which is which!

Is there anyone here who could machine a chuck backplate to have an 18x1.5 internal thread so I can mount it on my wood lathe?

I got a 3" burnerd chuck that was on a lathe that had a tapered spindle nose, and the backplate is machined for it but mine has a threaded nose. I was going to machine it out myself on the hobbymat but quite frankly I lack the skill to do it

Any help appreciated

I can't do thread cutting on my lathe.

I don't have that size tap in my box but M18x1.5 taps are not that expensive.
