In my experience most men come out of the cubicle, run their hands under the tap for about two seconds and head for the drier. This means that any faecal bacteria they’ve picked up in the process will be distributed in the film of water on their hands and will then get blown all over the room. I’d prefer it if they just headed straight for the door so I only have to worry about the door handle.
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

I remember the Myth Busters duo doing an experiment in one of their programmes, viz does a toothbrush left in its holder in the bathroom collect more aerosol faecal matter due to its proximity to the toilet, compared to toothbrushes that are kept in a different room?

The results were staggering - there was faecal matter on EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME, so didn't matter a jot where the toothbrushes were actually kept (or anything else for that matter), they couldn't get away from it. Not least cos of farting. Which every animal does all the time.

So it's all bollox?

just finished another one, this time in cherry and black.
arm is a roksan tabriz with the 'intelligent' counterweight.

ImageBte designs TYPE 2 lenco by anthony cresswell, on Flickr

was interested in this counterweight to see if it would make any difference over a normal one, then realised the owner hadn't left an original one with me so I couldn't compare the 2.....

Tbh I'm not sure its a great idea, as it is able to swing laterally as well as fore/aft. When I was setting the Eroica up in it I observed that the cart end was moving on the protractor as the counterweight was swinging like a pendulum. Like the tail wagging the dog, the motion left to right was started by moving the arm so the cart was on the protractor. The stylus stayed where it was, the cart body didn't, producing the same movement of the cantilever that a record that has been pressed off centre does.

Doesn't take much to provoke it into doing it either. Perhaps a knife edge would be a better bet rather than a single point.
other than that, nice arm

Can't really see the counterweight, but it doesn't sound ideal.

It is a rectangular block that hangs down under the counterweight stub with a loop attached that goes over it stub. it has a separate small ring that slides along the stub which has a small dimple in it. This is the bit that sets the tracking weight.
The weight itsself has a spike that points downwards in the top of the loop that sits in the dimple on the top of the ring.
Basically its a unipivot counterweight. I think the idea is that as the arm goes over warps the weight is free to move, but stays in the same place relative to the pivot point. Wheras a normal weight will move closer to the pivot point as the arm goes up at the cart end. meaning the tracking weight doesn't alter with the intelligent weight. But the thing can move in all planes, and can even spin. If it could only swing fore/aft then I could see the point, but it can swing all over the place. I think Its an odd design choice

AHa! I have an ordinary Tabriz on my Lenco, imho it is superb even if not intelligent. - wish my Lenco looked like this one though!
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

Yes that's a great deck. Is there a good pic of this counterweight that gives an idea how it works ?

Going well so far -

I've got three OGWT discs that were sold separately . Is the 4-disc combo a recent thing ?
I think there's probably enough in their archives for about 20 discs and I wish they would just release it all - after all, we license payers paid for it ! ( Ok, my dad ). Also, why can't we have a new old grey whistle test ?
Richard Thompson was excellent.
