I'd probably work if I was in Dubai

Can DTB inform us of any sightings of the Dartford Warbler ?
There was a bit about it on the news this morning.

Ohhhh. You're right! I'm in London (Mayfair) now and indeed it's blocked...
Doing a bit of "fire fighting" - was asked last night to come over but tricky as 1000s are returning to Blighty after a long weekend of the Dubai 7s rugby, not a seat to be had.
Eventually got one in a Quantas flight that was stopping over in Dubai at 02:45 this morning.. landed at 06:15 local LHR and in office before 9:00
Not flown Quantas for years. They were pretty good - was a 380 like Emirates use. Staff were excellent (for Aussies), food too. Bed very comfy.

The only place we've been where they're known to hang out is RSPB Arne down near Swanage. I wrote in their visitors book "....we've come down to get our birds back!".
There's a dead 'un in the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford we've seen though.

Favourite museum in the WHOLE WORLD !
Bizarrely, Sir Wilfred Thesiger, the great explorer and writer, is more than a bit of a local hero in the UAE - In the town of Al Ain where Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, the founder of the UAE, was born, there is a great exhibition in the local fort of his photos from that era.
All Thesiger's documents were left to the Pitt Rivers - it's a fascinating archive and the photos are truly amazing! He used a small hand-held Leica - he and Sheikh Zayed spent months at a time in the desert, hunting - Lord knows how that camera & the film survived...

If a camera is to survive the desert or the Himalayas it would be an old Leica.
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.

Ah! Well, I'm sure that I would have been mightily impressed if I'd seen it! (I'm not a pilot!)
I read about that back in 2002 or thereabout - so that was you?
