Love it! Have a look at the "Black Discus" - he's obviously making these in little baking tins.andrew Ivimey wrote:Well I rather liked it ...

Have to say, whatever we may think about all this tosh, if he can get money out of idiots its really the idiots' problem, not his. More power to his elbow

He also doesn't understand the basics, e.g. the difference between resistance and impedance - see his blog ramblings on digital interconnects...Greg wrote:http://madscientist-audio.com/magic-tubes/

I would have thought that many people think they are the same thing. Many more peeps can't give a toss. I expect they are perfectly happy or mildly miserable neither knowing nor caring what resistance and impedance actually are.
Now,we know and fully understand both concepts, so to speak, I am sure
Ha ha ha...
I suppose it helps if you are an engineer or,for example you have studied the anatomy of the ear in general and the middle ear ossicles specifically - a particular tale of impedance as it works.
(I've edited the above - my typing on a smart phone really is abysmal - appypollylogies. - sure it makes sense now...)

Ahhhh... But in the world of audio (actually, in anything other than DC) they are very different and impedance can vary wildly with frequency... The blog entry I was referring to is all about his justification for carbon fibre interconnects - there is a rambling diatribe about transmission lines and impedance matching - mostly b*llocks... I hate pseudo-science with a passion...

I know what resistance is, it's futile (as I was reminded today when I dared to say "that's a bit expensive!").
As for impudance, Pahhh!

I like that.
Futile indeed. But still we try. Vive la resistance!

I'm sure we've seen this one before! Tape glass vials of black powder to your audio leads.....

I quite like some of this mad scientist twaddle. Someone there has obviously been reading the http://www.machinadynamica.com site & decided to get a piece of the action. The 'Brilliant Pebbles' and 'Teleportation Tweak' are perennial favourites. In fairness, they do have a sense of humour, riddling the site with pictures of science fiction books from the 1930s. Presumably Geoff who runs the places takes the view that after seeing all that, anybody who actually shells out for something either has a similar sense of humour, or is so idiotic they deserve to be relieved of some readies.
