Sounds like a gimmick that will have a certain lifespan. As an optical designer, I'd tape a piece of flocked black paper behind it !

In a Room with a awkward set up and a TV is a further inconvenience, it might fit nicely into a Window reveal or other area with a Glass Back Drop and allow for the the best of both Worlds a Real World Vista and what ever the TV is projecting when in use.
It is a Shame they are not offering a Curved Model, it would like quite effective in a Bay Reveal
Such a option might leave more scope for how the HiFi System can be shown off
Its taken Three Cups of strong Coffee to come up with that one

The beginning of various new technologies:
1) eyeglasses instead of monitors
2) windows with self tint/information for automobiles
3) virtual reality

You're missinmg the point Steve, I just don't see it!

Am I the only one who thinks this is a brilliant idea? I don’t watch a huge amount, so most of the time the TV is a huge hideous black thing dominating the corner of the sitting room, so this would be a big improvement. 1. Move telly out of corner
2. Take photo of corner of room
3. Replace telly
4. Upload photo to Raspberry Pi as a screen saver
5. Plug Pi Into TV
6. Profit

I like that. Might confuse the dog when her ball ends up behind the tv though.

Nope and I like the Samsung frame too.

So, does it generate an opaque black pixel ( for the shadows ) ?
It has a pretty bold claim as regards contrast ratio.
