Yes, saw it on the regional news last night.
I liked Eggborough and the old Eggfests.

Ahh, yes- Eggborough, where the spirit of audio adventure was rampant
Mark's Aurora push pull with AVVT 300Bs
Mr I and his 845 Tractor amp
Steve S and the Angel Horns and later the Axiom 301 based baffles.
Colin and his ELS panels with earthquake inducing active car subs
Nick and the 211 breadboard with 4x U19 rectifier bridge.
Phil and the white amp
Tony Moore with the SlimServer digital experimentation
Jono and "that" 45 amp
James D's transparent baffles
T' other Andrew's developing tray phono stage
Al Newall and the six foot TQWTs that inspired my Metronomes
Alec's unforgettable (for me anyway 'cos I like R&B) old 78 demonstration session
Paul and Nick with the sack barrow HV power supply, thrashing GM70s to within an inch of their lives, into Colin's ELSs, Colin couldn't bear to look.
Last but not least, Paul building a 4212E SE in the corner. "Transmitter Amps Built While U Wait"
So what the feck happened then?
We need a "Spirit of Eggborough celebration fest", where those designs are dug out of the shed, raised from the dead and played at Owston. Wonder if we will have progressed in sound quality terms, as much as we think we have.

The white amp is still in existence, I must try it out again sometime soon.
I remember bringing it to an early Owston, and Nick saying to me "I can see why you like it". Never did know what he really meant ?

The first time I actually met a lot of you chaps was at Eggborough; I brought along my hopelessly underpowered, for the speakers it was hooked up to, little Transcendent SE-OTL.

Max's 211pp breadboarded on a door! With Those enormous coffins Colin built for Andrew L on the end of it

At the risk of thread diversion....
Not if we can't keep the lights on it isn't! And that's without additional demand for the time when the revolution comes and we "all drive Teslas", even if most of the time we'll charge them up at night when there's spare capacity.

Rip but time moves on, and things change. Glad I lived those moments but would do it differently next time.

Diverting further, maybe the threat of the lights going out isn't so bad, it might influence people's behaviour around energy consumption.
UK is actually pretty well placed though;
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42495883
and there's a lot of ongoing investment in offshore renewables that will improve things further.
There's an interesting dashboard here;
http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/
and you can swithch to a view of the data for France. I was quite surprised that, as I type this at just before 7am on a Sunday morning, overall demand for electricity in France is more than double that in the UK (60.9GW vs 29.6GW). The mix is very different too.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Nice link there Ray.
Been good to read though the many reflections of the event and highlights.
The last few meets at Eggy, most of the systems where packed into that small room cos they sounded better there. Owston is much better in that respect. But they where good days... reading up about the first one in Hifi World was quite a thing at the time...
There was a frenzy of creativity in the weeks leading up to our meets and the fruits where not always what we would hope for, but we all learnt alot and gathered good friends on the way.
All worthwhile..

The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

That's because Les Roast Beef have cereal for breakfast and the Les Grenouilles spend hours doing a 3 course prix fixe or full à la carte. "Petit" déjeuner? I'm off for a Full English to help redress the balance....
Philosophers have only interpreted the world - the point, however, is to change it. No it isn't ... maybe we should leave it alone for a while.
