Now then!
I found a few NIB Mazda PL36 in the miserable couple of boxes of what's left of my valve collection. I found them in a box of rectifiers.
IIRC, these B&W TV line output valves, are indescribably awful as audio pentodes, but as triodes, they are incredibly linear.

Has anyone ever in the dim and distant past, built anything with these?

Hi there.

Dad built a self split class A P/P with two of those. It ran on quite low HT. He used this circuit as inspiration http://www.b-kainka.de/roehren/Schaltung4.gif full article http://www.b-kainka.de/roehren/gegentakt.htm. (in German)

I have Dad's notebook with details of his version in but no way to scan it at the mo!

He built it as part of a guitar amp for Mum expecting some interesting distortion but was surprised how clean it sounded.

Luv, Ami.
