Thanks Mark I have a quantity of 811a and 572b. Just fancied the one without a top attachment.

These are really a most attractive tube.

Not arrived yet, but many years ago I hooked up a RCA 811a and it was probably one of the most sublime mid ranges I ever heard.
Right now we have a person living in the flats underneath who won't tolerate e slightest sound, so I can't thump out base and listen to everything quiet. Might as well use these then.

Should have paid attention to my instincts. One dead filament.

Seller came good. Sent me a replacement FOC . As I had paid duty plus £8 post office collection of duty charge on the original package he agreed to my request to put free gift on the replacement.
All is well that ends well.

Was that class A or class A2 Paul.
I must re-visit 811a.

It was just class A but it would need A2 for any meaningful result.

Phew !
Glad that was sorted. Pretty bad luck on a robust ( new ) valve like that.

It's the filament not liking the post office obstacle race.
Good to know the seller is a top person. Price is very fair as well.

I got a pair of these too, after reading your comments - mine arrived a few days ago in good condition.
Most attractive valve - I'd have preferred a medium-µ variant, but the price was more than fair and its always good to be pushed a bit outside what you would normally do.
